Final Fantasy 14 is about to get festive with the Starlight Celebration for 2023, featuring a classic Santa costume as a reward. Players can participate in this Christmas-themed event in Final Fantasy 14 from December 15 through the end of the year.
The Starlight Celebration is Final Fantasy 14’s in-game event and holiday analogue to Christmas. Each year, the celebration rewards some excellent cosmetics, including some wintery glamours, minions, mounts, and furnishings.
Now, Christmas has come back to Final Fantasy 14 in one of its most iconic ways yet. The 2023 run of this event, called Ties to Remember, will begin on December 15. According to the special FF14 site for the event, players can pick up the starting quest as soon as they hit level 15 in Gridania from the Bearded Lady NPC. After completing what promises to be a heartwarming questline, players will be able to get the Unorthodox Saint’s attire, a dyable, five-piece Santa outfit, plus the Illuminated Topiary Chocobo, a glowing bush decoration that looks like the iconic Final Fantasy creature.
FF14 Starlight Celebration 2023 Event Details

In Final Fantasy 14’s last 10 years, players haven’t actually gotten a tried-and-true Santa outfit. The Dream gear, Starlight Attire, and Starlight Robe came close, and players also got Reindeer, Snowman, and Choir outfits that fit the season as well. However, this year’s glamour will allow players to truly dress up as Saint Nick himself, and even dye it their favorite color.
While many are excited about collecting this charming cosmetic, others are disappointed at this year’s reward. Last year, Final Fantasy 14 gave players an amazing reindeer mount many enjoy using all year round. These fans find the Unorthodox Saint’s Attire to be uninspired in comparison, especially since they already have other Christmas-themed clothes.
Either way, Final Fantasy 14 players have plenty to look forward to as the year comes to a close. Dawntrail is expected to release in Summer 2024, and the third and final Fan Festival takes place on January 7 and 8. Fans expect to hear a release date, an announcement of the second job coming in Dawntrail, and possibly even the reveal of playable female Hrothgar at the convention. With part two of Patch 6.5, the Xbox platform release, and several more holiday events between then and now, next year is going to be big for fans of the critically-acclaimed MMORPG.
