Summary

  • Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.1 will continue Dawntrail's main story.
  • Quality-of-life updates to the user interface and game graphics.
  • Job balance changes for Patch 7.1 will be revealed separately.

Final Fantasy 14 pulled back the curtain on the major features arriving with Patch 7.1 as Square Enix posted the preliminary patch notes for the Crossroads content update. The upcoming Final Fantasy 14 content patch will bring some quality-of-life-changes alongside new story chapters for players to enjoy.

The Crossroads update launches on November 12, and it will be the first major content patch since Dawntrail's July launch. Patch 7.1's main scenario quests will focus on characters met throughout Dawntrail, and address the fallout of events that took place at the end of Patch 7.0. Players can begin Patch 7.1's main story by speaking to Bol Wuruq at the For'ard Cabins in Tuliyollal. Alongside the next main story chapter, the Echoes of Vana'diel alliance raid series will release its first part, titled Jeuno: The First Walk, which Final Fantasy 11 fans may recognize. The alliance raid quest chain can be started by seeking out a Hoobigo Messenger located near the Tuliyollal Aetheryte Plaza.

Aside from the additional story content, Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.1 will bring more quality-of-life updates to players. According to the preliminary patch notes, the Crossroads update will allow players to copy and import their main character's settings to an alternate character without having to use convoluted methods. Items such as HUD layout, hotbars, gear sets, and macros, can be copied over via the Character Selection screen and by clicking on the Import Character Settings option from the sub-menu. In response to player feedback, the Hall of the Novice was updated to teach newcomers more advanced combat mechanics, including stack markers that require parties to share incoming damage. Final Fantasy 14 players who complete the new Hall of the Novice challenge will be rewarded with a ring that will increase experience points gained up to level 60.

  • Square Enix will conduct server maintenance for approximately seven hours, starting on November 11 at 10:00 PM Eastern.

A full list of PVE and PVP Job changes coming to Final Fantasy 14 will be posted by Square Enix during server maintenance, which will begin on Monday, November 11, at 10:00 PM Eastern and conclude on Tuesday, November 12, at 5:00 AM Eastern. Some of Patch 7.1's other key highlights, such as the Futures Rewritten (Ultimate) raid and the next story in the fan-favorite Hildibrand quest series will be released in smaller patches throughout the rest of 2024 and into early 2025.

With Patch 7.1 just days away, Final Fantasy 14 players will not have much time to finish earning rewards from the Moogle Treasure Trove event and the current PVP series. How the Crossroads update will be received by players remains to be seen.
