Two weeks after its long-awaited launch, Final Fantasy 16 has been updated to version 1.03 to address some complaints that players had with the game and to add a widely requested feature. On social media, reception to the first post-launch update for Final Fantasy 16 was positive, with some players thanking the developers for their swift response with the requested feature. As one of the top-rated games of 2023 at the time of writing, Final Fantasy 16 smashed sales records to become the top PS5 game in Japan with over 336,000 units sold there. The latest entry in the Final Fantasy series had over three million units sold globally within its launch window. While that number is just shy of the five million units that its predecessor Final Fantasy 15 had, the latter's sales were across both the PS4 and Xbox One initially, which made the launch of Final Fantasy 16 all the more remarkable considering the PS5's smaller install base. Though Final Fantasy 16 was lauded for its visuals and its over-the-top Eikon battles, the game was not without its flaws. But, some of those flaws were ironed out with the 1.03 update.RELATED: Final Fantasy 16 Fans Spot Grim FF 9 Easter Egg Clocking in at a paltry 267 MB, Final Fantasy 16 version 1.03 added the ability for players to adjust and turn off motion blur. The feature was highly requested across social media following reports of some Final Fantasy 16 players getting sick from motion blur, with reports of motion sickness and queasiness after playing the game for a little while. The motion blur now has a slider that can be turned off by sliding it down to zero, and it can go up to the pre-update version at level five.

In addition, three new control types were added. One of the new control types, Type D, reverses the Evade and Eikonic Feat buttons, which may please gamers that are used to dodging by pressing the Circle button. In addition, the horizontal and vertical camera sensitivity settings ranges were doubled, along with some stability fixes for the menus. While it remains to be seen what effect these changes will have on players already at Final Fantasy 16's endgame, the fact that Creative Business Unit 3 worked to address the motion blur complaints swiftly did not go unnoticed by players on social media.

With these new features and a slew of challenges for players to take on, there are plenty of reasons to see why Final Fantasy 16 is an enjoyable thrill ride. Only time will tell what further tuning will take place in the future.

Final Fantasy 16 is available now for PS5.
