A demo for Final Fantasy 16 has appeared on the PlayStation Store, hinting at an announcement coming fairly soon. Final Fantasy 16 is one of the biggest new releases of 2023, and it launches in just a few weeks on PS5.
Square Enix had previously confirmed that it will launch a demo for Final Fantasy 16 sometime before its release. This demo is said to launch two weeks before Final Fantasy 16 comes out, and players’ save data will carry over to the full game if they purchase it. Final Fantasy 16’s demo has now started showing up on the PlayStation Store, so Square Enix may be planning to announce it soon.
As reported by Push Square, and originally spotted by a player on Reddit, a demo for Final Fantasy 16 has started to appear on the PlayStation Store, especially when using mobile devices. Fans should note that gamers are unable to download the demo as yet, so it looks like only its store page has gone live at the moment. Push Square was unable to replicate it, but it looks like this demo only shows for gamers after pre-ordering Final Fantasy 16.
This is confirmed by one user in the comments section, as they claim that the Final Fantasy 16 demo only appeared after they pre-ordered the game. Some players have shared their own images with the demo in their libraries, while other gamers have expressed regret at pre-ordering the physical version of Final Fantasy 16. It seems like someone made a mistake that resulted in the store page going live prematurely, but users anyway cannot download the demo as of now.
Final Fantasy 16 is receiving a ton of praise in the lead-up to its release, and this demo will hopefully allow fans to get substantial hands-on experience with the game. It’ll be interesting to see how much content this demo offers, and if gamers get bonuses when they transfer their save files to the full release.
Fans should note that Final Fantasy 16 is an action game with no turn-based elements, but Square Enix has added different types of items that will make the game a lot easier for users. As an example, the Ring of Timely Evasion will allow protagonist Clive to automatically dodge attacks, while the Ring of Timely Strikes lets players perform complex moves with simple button presses. Overall, it looks like Final Fantasy 16 will try to ease users into the combat system, with this demo giving them crucial hands-on time.
Final Fantasy 16 releases for PS5 on June 22.
