Final Fantasy 16's most recent patch, Patch 1.03, mostly contains small changes and additions to the game's options. Some notable inclusions that many players will be glad to see include the addition of Motion Blur settings and a greater level of camera sensitivity adjustment.
Final Fantasy 16 follows Clive Rosfield on his journey from prince, to slave soldier, to legendary outlaw. Along the way, he uncovers countless secrets and mysteries of the world of Valisthea and encounters the Dominants, each of whom command an elemental entity of tremendous power.
1.03 Patch Notes
The Patch Notes for Patch 1.03 begin by explaining new additions to the System menu. These consist of the following:
- Motion Blur Strength: This allows players to control the level of motion blur and even disable it entirely, with settings scaling from 0-5. 5 is the default setting that all previous versions of the game used by default.
- Player Follow (Movement) and Player Follow (Attack): These settings can be enabled or disabled to determine whether the camera will automatically follow the player when moving and when attacking, respectively.
These features will no doubt be welcome to some players who find Motion Blur disorienting or otherwise irritating, or who want greater manual control over the game camera when performing certain actions. Changes have also been made to the following settings:
- Camera Sensitivity Settings for the X and Y Axis have both had their maximum value increased to 20, allowing for greater control over Camera Sensitivity.
- Additional Controller Layouts have been added, which are listed as layouts D, E, and F.
Beyond this, the patch notes indicate that an issue which "affected the stability of some menus" has been resolved along the correction of some text issues. Finally, share functionality on the PS5 will now tag screenshots and clips shared to Twitter or Youtube with "#FF16" automatically.
While many of the changes made by this particular patch seem pretty small, the additional control over user experience (and especially the ability to turn off Motion Blur) is greatly appreciated. A common complaint about earlier editions of the game was, indeed, the inability to disable Motion Blur as it can be irritating to some players (and can make taking screenshots of combat sequences an absolute nightmare) so this particular improvement is a welcome addition.
