Yuffie has come a long way since she entered the scene in 1997 via Final Fantasy 7. She, like Vincent, was a secret character that had no big impact on the story. Because of this, Yuffie and Vincent were left out of cutscenes, which is a shame, but it’s something the remake trilogy has been working on.

Of the many main characters, Yuffie has changed the most between the prequels, sequels, and remakes wardrobe-wise. 7 Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7
A Ninja’s Origins
Yuffie doesn’t have a huge role in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7, as she is just a kid. The game takes place seven years before the original game’s events and focuses on Zack, Cloud’s SOLDIER friend whose life he copied. Zack will run into Yuffie during an early mission in Wutai.
She has a green dress/shirt on with yellow trim along with shorts, although they are hard to see. She has a headband and a yellow belt, too, and it’s definitely a simple design made for a kid. As a minor character in the game, the team didn’t have to try too hard.
6 Before Crisis: Final Fantasy 7
Still In Training
Before Crisis: Final Fantasy 7 takes place about a year after Crisis Core and is about The Turks organization within Shinra. It was originally released for mobile devices in Japan, and it has yet to be fully translated into a playable game in the West. The plan is to complete it within Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis, but it may take a while.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: How to Unlock Fast Travel
Given the size of some of the areas they'll be exploring, players will probably want to prioritize unlocking fast travel in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Like Crisis Core, Yuffie only has a small role, although, in this game, she appears to be readily in training. She sported a yellow vest and orange shorts that had a bandolier draped on them as if it was made to house ninja tools. These shorts were buttoned all the way and tied up with a green rope, so again, it was a pretty basic design.

A Desperate Materia Hunter
Yuffie in Final Fantasy 7 has one of the wildest costumes of the whole party, and she is a secret character, too. She had a green sweater that was seemingly torn and made into half of a vest. She had a big cast on her left arm for some reason, along with a bracer on that same leg.
She had fishnets covering that bracer, too, and fishnets on her right arm, which was also gloved. Perhaps the strangest part was her unbuttoned tan shorts. As the youngest member of the party, it always seemed like an odd design choice.
4 Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children
Yuffie Shops At Normal Stores Now
The original design of Yuffie matches up with a lot of 90s RPG characters as in it was strange. That strangeness was toned down for the movie Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children. Everyone is a bit older now as peace has relatively settled in despite a disease rendering people ill.
Illnesses aside, it seemed like Yuffie decided to hit up a fashion shop because her clothes were relatively normal. She had a blue blouse with white flowers along with a short vest over that. Her bracers were all gone in exchange for slim boots and reasonably-looking gloves. The only odd thing was her shorts, which were both buttoned and unbuttoned at the same time. The way they were folded did not make a lot of sense.
3 Dirge Of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7
Is That A Mummy Or A Moogle?
Not many characters in the main cast from the original game got solo adventures. Zack was a standout with Crisis Core, as was Vincent, who was the star of Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7. It was like Devil May Cry had a baby with Final Fantasy 7, and Vincent was aided by several returning heroes like Yuffie.
She had two costumes. One was her “Moogle” cloak, which made her look more like a mummy. Her normal garb had a color clash situation with a blue tank top, orange shorts, and a yellow bandolier, seemingly trying to take said shirt off. Her sock and shoe combo were kind of like her boots from Advent Children, except they looked a bit more casual.
2 Final Fantasy 7 Remake/Rebirth
An Updated Classic Design
Yuffie’s outfit in Final Fantasy 7 Remake was almost identical to the original one. Everything was updated graphically, so her design at least looked modern by PS5 standards. There were a couple of subtle changes, though, such as her small yellow scarf tied to her left arm’s cast, which was green before.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: How to Upgrade Summon Materia
Just like in the original game, players can upgrade their Summons in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, although the method for doing so is very different.
The fishnet glove combo she had on her right arm was also gone in the remake. Also, in her DLC episode, she wore a better version of the Moogle cloak from Dirge of Cerberus with the head at least looking correct. In the latest volume of the remake trilogy, the only thing that changed was Yuffie buttoning up her shorts and putting on a modest black belt.
1 Kingdom Hearts
A Bizarre Crossover
Outside of the Final Fantasy 7 series of sequels, Yuffie has appeared in several franchise spinoffs, too. Most of her designs mirrored the PS1 version, but one spinoff worth pointing out is the first Kingdom Hearts. The design was inspired by the original, but there were a few changes to make Yuffie fit in more with the Disney vibe.
Her casts and bracers were gone for more moderate socks, gloves, and shoes. She sported a big yellow scarf, too, which may be why she had one in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Her giant shuriken was shrunk down to a normal-sized throwing star, which was a downgrade. In Kingdom Hearts 2 and beyond, her outfit was almost a 1:1 recreation of Advent Children’s.
