Summary
- Square Enix updates Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC specs to require high-end graphics cards with 12-16GB VRAM for 4K.
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will utilize DLSS upscaling, ShaderModel 6.6 support, and DirectX 12 Ultimate on PC.
Two weeks before Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches on PC, Square Enix shared an updated list of the full specifications to run the game at minimum, recommended, and ultra settings. Square Enix also recommended that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players use a high-end graphics card with 12GB to 16GB of video memory to play the game using a 4K monitor.
The news came as Square Enix prepared to launch Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC nearly a year after its initial PS5 release. In November, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth also released a PS5 Pro enhancement patch that allowed the game to utilize the upgraded specs of Sony's console refresh. Although Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth received both a PS5 Pro update and the upcoming PC port, the game will not receive any DLC content like Final Fantasy 7 Remake had with its Episode INTERmission expansion. Square Enix stated that it had shifted its focus towards the development of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, and asked fans to wait a little longer for any more information about it.
While Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth shared some PC spec requirements after revealing the port during The Game Awards, Square Enix has since made a few changes to the list. The company clarified its previous PC specs by stating that a graphics card with at least 12GB to 16GB of video memory was recommended for players using a 4K monitor. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will still require 64-bit versions of the Windows 10 or 11 operating systems, 155 GB of storage space on a solid-state drive (SSD), and at least 16GB of RAM. On the processor side, a multi-core CPU such as the Ryzen 5 5600 or higher is recommended. For graphics cards, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth requires an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or higher, as the game will utilize Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) upscaling to increase performance.

Additionally, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth requires GPUs that support ShaderModel 6.6 or higher, alongside operating systems with DirectX 12 Ultimate support. In previous interviews, game director Naoki Hamaguchi encouraged players to try out Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC due to the upgraded lighting, shaders, and textures that are currently exclusive to the upcoming port. It remains to be seen if the PS5 version will receive similar lighting upgrades.
Although Square Enix previously stated its intent to optimize Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for Steam Deck, the company provided no updates on that front. With January 23 right around the corner, fans will not have much longer to wait to play Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC.
