At the 2024 edition of The Game Awards, Square Enix pulled back the curtain on the PC port of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and revealed that the game would launch on both Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 23. Additionally, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will support Nvidia Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) upscaling and variable refresh rate on compatible displays.
The PC port of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will launch just under a year after the game's initial release on the PS5. Picking up from where Final Fantasy 7 Remake left off, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth focused on the open world outside Midgar, with Cloud and the main cast exploring locations such as Costa del Sol, Cosmo Canyon, and the Gold Saucer. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth proved to be a hit with fans, as it became one of the highest-rated video games of 2024. The third part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga is currently in development.
During the 2024 edition of The Game Awards, Square Enix shared a short trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's PC port and confirmed that it would be released on both Steam and the Epic Games Store (EGS) on January 23. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's PC port will have updated lighting, enhanced texture quality options, and compatibility with Nvidia's DLSS upscaling technology. In the same vein as the PS5 Pro enhancements in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, DLSS uses AI-based techniques to render games at a lower resolution before upscaling them to match the user's native display resolution, which usually improves performance. However, DLSS requires an Nvidia graphics card, such as the Geforce RTX 30 series and newer.
