Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 Remake  was a huge success, and fans seem to be loving the new direction that the story is going. As this title was initially a PS4 exclusive, it came as no surprise when a PS5 version of the game was revealed. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade  preserves the original's gameplay for the most part with a few minor differences. Players will be able to make use of a photo mode, and the game will be able to run in performance and graphics mode depending on what the player wants to prioritize. While this is very exciting, there's some confusion surrounding whether or not the Intergrade  version of the game will be made available on PS4.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade  is basically just the name for the PS5 version of the game. Aside from those listed above, there are very few substantial changes, and the game's story and combat system will remain identical. To make matters more confusing, there's also the Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intermission  DLC that's being released this month as well.

Square Enix has made it clear that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade  will not be available on PS4. Since a majority of the new content wouldn't be usable by the PS4, this decision makes a lot of sense. That said, anyone with the PS4 version of the game will be given a free upgrade to the Intergrade  version that they can then play on their PS5s. This doesn't apply to anyone that got the PS4 game when it was free on PS Plus last March, however.

Episode Intermission DLC PS5

The truly unfortunate thing about this situation is that, for reasons unknown, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intermission  DLC featuring fan favorite character Yuffie is Intergrade  exclusive. By extension, that means that players without a PS5 will not get to experience the Yuffie DLC or any of the new story and characters that come along with it. Instead, they'll have to wait until they get their hands on a PS5, and with PS5 shortages continuing into 2021, that could end up taking a while.

It's unclear why Square Enix opted to make the Yuffie DLC Intergrade  exclusive, but there isn't much that players can do about it. Those wanting to experience everything new with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade  will need a PlayStation 5 in order to do so. With any luck, these shortages will end before long and players will actually be able to get one, but until that day comes, the standard version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake  will have to do.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade  releases on April 10th for PS5.
