Summary
- Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is confirmed for PS5, with the potential for an Xbox release as well.
- This should ease fans concerned that the game will be a PS6 exclusive.
- Recent interviews confirmed smooth development progress but no official release date has been announced yet.
The Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 developers have recently confirmed that the game will be available for the PlayStation 5. Due to changes in Square Enix’s policies surrounding multiplatform releases, it’s also possible that the last entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy may even come out on Xbox.
The original Final Fantasy 7 was released in 1997 for PlayStation, and it’s considered one of the best entries in the Final Fantasy franchise. Over the years, FF7 spawned several spin-offs, and a new remake trilogy was announced in 2015. Final Fantasy 7 Remake was released in 2020, and Final Fantasy Rebirth in 2024. Now, fans eagerly await the last installment in the trilogy, which is rumored to be released around 2027 or 2028.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is Officially Steam Deck Verified
Square Enix confirms that the upcoming PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is officially Steam Deck verified ahead of its impending release.
During an interview with 4Gamer, Final Fantasy 7 Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase and director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the game will come to the PlayStation 5. This is excellent news for PS5 owners, as they will be able to play the whole trilogy using the same console. Hamaguchi has also noted that Square Enix plans to release future titles on a “wide range of platforms,” hinting that even consoles such as the Xbox Series X/S could finally have the Final Fantasy Remake trilogy available.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Will Come to PS5 and Maybe Even Xbox
This is the latest of several interviews the team had about FF7 recently. Back in December, for example, Hamaguchi revealed that the development of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 was progressing well, but it was still too early to provide more details.
Earlier this week, Hamaguchi and Kitase shed more light on the progress, revealing that FF7 Remake Part 3 is still on schedule and no significant setbacks have been found. Unfortunately, the team could still not give the game an official release window.
The indication that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will be available on more platforms is compatible with some recent rumors. Earlier in January, for example, one rumor indicated that Final Fantasy 7 Remake could be coming to the Switch 2. If these indications are correct, it’s possible that the whole trilogy will eventually be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, PC, and next-gen consoles such as the PS6. In any case, this is all speculation at this point, so it’s better to wait until Square Enix makes an official announcement before getting too excited.
