It feels fair to say that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project has been one of the most ambitious series in gaming, with it taking one of the most beloved games of all time and stretching it out into a fully-fledged trilogy. While this approach has resulted in the addition of some unnecessary filler, it's also allowed for a richer story, more in-depth character moments, and more world-building than was ever possible in the original PS1 game. This more thorough approach also allows Final Fantasy 7 Remake to add even more emotional depth to its key moments, and Part 3 is going to have plenty of those.

After Remake and Rebirth, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project is technically only halfway through the original 1997 game's story. That means there's a lot of ground for the remake's final third to tackle, which is a task that's even more daunting given the new direction Square Enix is taking some of the original game's plot. For instance, Wutai is likely going to get a major overhaul in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, and along with that might come a surprising turn for one villainous group.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Might Flip The Script on The Turks

The Turks Have Been Strong Antagonists Throughout Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth

In the original 1997 version of Final Fantasy 7, the Turks pop up fairly frequently throughout the game's story, chasing Aerith, blowing up the Sector 7 plate, and trying to reach Sephiroth before Cloud and the rest of the gang, among other hostile activities. These original appearances were memorable, but Final Fantasy 7 Remake takes them to the next level.

With modern 3D graphics, Final Fantasy 7 Remake's Turks are much more distinctive than their original polygonal counterparts, and the addition of voice acting reinforces that individuality. Fighting the Turks also feels a bit more engaging in Remake and Rebirth, feeling more like set pieces that break up the game's other combat encounters.

But regardless of their upgrades in presentation, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth's Turks still commit the same villainous acts. Though the banter between them is fun, and their interactions with Cloud and the rest of Avalanche are entertaining, the Turks are antagonists through and through, with Reno, Rude, and Tseng all being directly responsible for killing tens of thousands of people who were living in Sector 7.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Might See The Turks Joining Cloud's Side

That all being said, newcomers might be in for a bit of a surprise when it comes to Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3's Wutai section. In the original game, Cloud and the gang briefly team up with the Turks in Wutai to rescue Yuffie and Elena, both of whom have been kidnapped by Don Corneo. After the rescue is complete, Reno gets a call from his higher-ups asking him to bring Cloud in. As Cloud gets ready for a fight, Reno simply turns to Rude, says it's their day off, and walks away, forging a shaky truce between the two groups until the end of the game.

It's been heavily hinted throughout Remake and Rebirth that the final part of the trilogy will feature a greatly expanded Wutai section, with it being its own country in the remake continuity. That overhaul could come with changes to this Turks' storyline, but it seems likely Square Enix will want to keep the group's change in tune intact.
