The entire Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is coming to Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch 2, series director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed. Many call the original Final Fantasy 7 one of the greatest games of all time, and so its current-gen remake has unsurprisingly been a hit as well. Now even more gamers will get to enjoy the whole Final Fantasy 7 Remake experience, as it lands on a wider range of platforms.

In addition to its revamped gameplay and upgraded visuals, the remake of the beloved title is much bigger in scope. Square Enix has reimagined it as a trilogy instead of a single game, so while the first part came out in 2020, fans still haven't gotten the chance to finish the story in this newer version. The company says it has already decided on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3's launch window, but while that date may still be a mystery, the game has other big news in store for fans.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy Is Coming to Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch 2

Hamaguchi tweeted on September 12 that the whole Final Fantasy 7 Remake series is "expanding to major platforms," namely, the Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2. Many gamers had expected this, as Square Enix had already confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade was coming to Xbox and Switch 2, but it hadn't clarified if the same was true for Parts 2 and 3 until now. In addition, it's now clear when exactly the first part was arriving on those platforms. The post that Hamaguchi was quote tweeting revealed a January 22, 2026, release date for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on Xbox and Switch 2.

The link in the Square Enix post Hamaguchi quote tweeted offers even more details. When Final Fantasy 7 Remake launches on the new platforms, it'll come with a new mode called "Streamlined Progression." This feature ensures players' HP, MP, Limit gauge, and ATB gauge are always full and that they'll always deal 9999 damage. Those tweaks make the experience much easier, opening the game up to less experienced players. While Final Fantasy 7 Remake was already one of the best FF games for beginners, this added accessibility further cements it as a great way to get into the franchise.

Cloud, Tifa and Barret

When Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and the third installment will land on Xbox and Switch 2 is still a mystery. However, Square Enix is showing off Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade at the Tokyo Game Show from September 25 to the 28th, so there's a chance the studio may make an announcement about the trilogy during the convention. Fans will have to stay tuned and keep an eye on Square Enix's socials to know for sure.
