A Final Fantasy protagonist with barely any aura to speak of, it's amazing how Vaan managed to accomplish anything by just being loud and stubborn. He somehow stumbled upon a group of heroes way more competent than him as he was embroiled in a series of political events well beyond his capacities.

Not only did he succeed as a hero, but he also ended up achieving his dream of becoming a Sky Pirate at the end of the game. For a character who was a bit too headstrong and foolish, things panned out pretty well for him.

Despite being exposed to the Guardian Forces, Irvine was lucky enough to retain the memories he shared with the heroes in the orphanage. He comes off as a creep at times but isn't lambasted too hard for his behavior.

Perhaps his luckiest moment came when he choked in his mission and failed to shoot Edea from a distance, even if the memories of the past prevented him from shooting a woman who served as a mother figure in his life. Not only did the rest of the party pick up the slack, but Irvine wasn't even punished for his failure.

Some Final Fantasy villains are diabolically clever, but not these characters.

In a way, the player is lucky since they don't have to build up a party member from Level 1. Krile herself is lucky to become a Warrior of Light without any experience and using her newfound power to deal with powerful monsters without facing too many problems.

As a thief with a heart of gold, Yuffie eventually becomes an endearing character that will grow on fans over time. This is despite her making a poor first impression, where she evades the party any chance she gets, making it a pain to recruit her.

What makes things worse is when players land in the continent of Wutai, only for Yuffie to steal all their materia in one of the most frustrating moments in the series. Yuffie should consider herself lucky that the party didn't chuck her out for this act instead of welcoming her back with open arms.

It helps that the Fayth became active just when it was her turn to sacrifice herself, bringing back the spirits of Tidus and Auron to save the world and prevent her from embarking on a doomed quest. This allowed Yuna to survive and usher in a new age of Spira, allowing her to become a beloved J-pop idol along with Rikku and Paine.
