  • Patch 1.2.0 for Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster on PC addresses bugs and makes changes to text and mini-maps in each available title.
  • Each Pixel Remaster game has received specific updates, with Final Fantasy 3 adding Job Level to the list of Boost features.
  • Some bugs that prevented story progression and achievement credit from being correctly granted have also been addressed.

On March 5, Square Enix updated the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection to version 1.2.0 on PC, with the recent patch addressing some bugs and making some changes to the games' text and mini-maps. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Patch 1.2.0 is now available to download on Steam, and each game in the compilation will receive individual updates of varying file sizes.

The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection is a six-game homage to the original mainline Final Fantasy games. Each entry in the Pixel Remaster compilation has graphics comparable to the 16-bit era, with the original NES and SNES soundtracks available as options alongside remastered versions of each game. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster was initially released on Steam and mobile devices before making its way to modern consoles. The Xbox Series X/S was the most recent platform for Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster to launch on, as the games were shadow-dropped on Microsoft's console during the 2024 Tokyo Game Show.

Final Fantasy 14 Players Should Mark March 14 On Their Calendars

Square Enix teases that Final Fantasy 14 players eager for news about upcoming content should watch the second Friday of March.

Though it's been over a year since the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster compilation received a major update, Square Enix released another one for fans to download. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster version 1.2.0 is now available on Steam as separate downloads for each Final Fantasy game in the collection. For example, the first Final Fantasy game will require 30 MB of extra storage space, while Final Fantasy 4 and Final Fantasy 6 will have updates between 40 and 50 MB. Each Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster game has had improvements made to their user interface and controls, and some bugs that prevented story progression and achievement credit from being correctly granted were addressed.

Final Fantasy 1 and Final Fantasy 2 received the smallest updates of the bunch, and the rest of the compilation received specific changes. Final Fantasy 3 version 1.2.0 added Job Level to the list of Boost features, with players now able to grant x0 or x4 multipliers to Job experience points gained. In Final Fantasy 4, the Float spell used by characters like Rosa will now be maintained during dungeon map transitions. Rosa also received some battle command order adjustments.

Final Fantasy 6 saw some changes to the Cid event during the middle of the game, and version 1.2.0 will also compensate experience points to characters who rejoin the party at specific intervals. Sabin's Blitz command input controls were also adjusted, and bugs related to the song "Dancing Mad" were addressed. Despite the demand for Final Fantasy 6 to get a remake similar to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga, the Pixel Remaster collection remains the most accessible way to play some of Square Enix's best hits.
