Gamers who were not able to purchase the physical versions of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster will no longer be able to pay fair prices for it. The product is no longer available on the official website, and it needs to be acquired from scalpers while Square Enix does not offer more units of the Final Fantasy remakes officially.Ever since the announcement of the console versions of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, their release has been eagerly awaited by fans who own a PS4 or a Switch. These remasters of the first six Final Fantasy games come with improved graphics, music, and new fonts, and were previously only available for PC and mobile. That changed this week, but players who were planning to get their hands on physical versions of these titles may be disappointed. Unfortunately, the console release of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters is facing a shortage of physical editions, which are fetching absurd prices online. The reason for that is that Square Enix made a limited number of physical editions and, as Final Fantasy is its most famous franchise, it sold out very quickly. As spotted by Wario64, it’s no longer possible to get these products in the Square Enix store, and there are only a few copies still being sold in Asia, which will probably not last for long, either.
When looking at eBay, it’s not hard to find crazy prices. The standard edition, which comes only with the games and should cost $75 is currently being sold for over $300. Gamers who want the Anniversary Edition, which comes with vinyl, artbooks, and a few figures, and was supposed to be selling for $250, may find it on the website for as high as $1,200. Fortunately, players can still access the game digitally, so they won’t need to pay these ridiculous prices unless they are avid collectors, but it’s still bad news for people clamoring for a physical PS4 and Switch release of these classic Final Fantasy titles.
Final Fantasy fans who are eager to try other remasters apart from these should know that an important game insider claimed the Final Fantasy Tactics remake was coming recently. This is one of the most awaited remakes for tactics fans and, while Jason Schreier didn’t talk too much about it, he seemed to corroborate the rumors that the game may be in development and will be released eventually.
Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, and Switch.
