In Fire Emblem Heroes, the "Refinery" is a weapon enhancement feature that allows you to maximize a weapon’s stats and infuse new effects for higher damage. The Weapon Refinery unlocks after reaching a specific point in the story and is found in the Ally Growth menu (previously in the now-removed Advanced Growth menu).
This guide helps Fire Emblem Heroes players unlock the Weapon Refinery menu and understand its mechanics in the current update. It also provides a list of weapons that offer guaranteed benefits when upgraded.
Fire Emblem Heroes: How to Get More SP
Here’s a surefire method for farming SP in Fire Emblem Heroes, as well as tips for maximizing your Skill Point gains.
How to Unlock Weapon Refinery
To access the Weapon Refinery menu, you need to complete Book 1’s The Rite of Blades Intermission. This objective becomes available once you beat Chapter 13 and its follow-up Intermission, A Power Awakens.
The Weapon Refinery menu can be found in the Ally Growth menu under the Merge Allies tab.
How to Upgrade Weapons
To refine an ally’s weapon, it must be upgradable. Once you have an upgradable weapon, you can enhance its stats or add a special effect by paying a set amount of SP, Refining Stones, and Arena Medals.
Allies wielding upgraded weapons will display a unique aura based on the type of upgrade. A purple hue indicates a special effect, red signifies Might upgrades, while green, yellow, and blue represent SPD, DEF, and RES upgrades, respectively.
You can own different versions of an upgraded weapon. But you are limited to equipping only one.
Upgraded weapons cannot be inherited. The only way to inherit an upgraded weapon is by merging allies.
Weapon Upgrade Materials
Refining regular weapons requires SP (Skill Point), Refining Stone, and Arena Medals. But if you’re trying to enhance a Unique Weapon, you will need Divine Dew, too. Here’s how to acquire each upgrade material:
- SP: You will earn Skill Points by killing strong enemies. But you can also farm SP by repeatedly beating the Chain Challenge missions repeatedly.
- Refining Stone: Quests, Abyss Trials, and limited-time events are the best places to farm Refining Stones in Fire Emblem Heroes.
- Arena Medals: You can earn Arena Medals by beating Arena matches.
- Divine Dew: Spending Refining Stones generates Divine Dew automatically.
Best Weapons to Upgrade First
Chaos Ragnell, Maltet, Imbued Koma, Urvan, and Lion King Fang are among the best options to refine in Fire Emblem Heroes’ current metagame. But you can also invest in the following high-tier weapons: Alondite, Hawk King Claw, Ninis's Ice Lance, Bun-Bun Baton, and Warrior Princess.
