Nintendo released Fire Emblem Warriors back in 2017, and it's revisiting the Musou spin-off series with Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Three Hopes follows characters from Fire Emblem: Three House s, and it's being developed by the same team that did the prequel, Omega Force.

During the recent Nintendo Direct, Koei Tecmo joined the lineup by unveiling the next Fire Emblem title, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, a sequel to Fire Emblem Warriors. The trailer begins with two armies clashing on the battlefield before closing in on Fire Emblem: Three Houses protagonist and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter, Byleth. The video then proceeds to show off Musou combat familiar to Omega Force games, focusing on three playable characters in the game and how they will fight off the waves of enemies also expected from Musou games.

The playable Fire Emblem: Three Houses characters featured in the Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes trailer are Dimitri, Edelgard, and Claude, and each have their own combat style. The three protagonists are heroes that Fire Emblem: Three Houses fans have learned about, and they represent the Blue Lions, Black Eagles, and Golden Deer, respectively. Although the Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes trailer teases Fire Emblem hero Byleth as another playable character, the character doesn't get a proper gameplay reveal like the others.

The Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes trailer portrays Edelgard swirling enemies up in a conjured tornado, Dimitri slashing and rapidly striking foes with his lance, and Claude taking to the sky to unload a flurry of arrows at those who seek to defeat him in battle. Koei Tecmo teases a parchment map during the trailer, taking players from one stage to the next as the key characters unveil plot details. Although the original Fire Emblems Warriors title saw frame rate dips in intense combat, the combat showed off during the Nintendo Direct trailer appeared to perform well.

Some additional characters from Fire Emblem: Three Houses shown during the Nintendo Direct trailer that may play an important role in Fire Emblem: Three Hopes include Baron Dominic, Hubert, Ingrid, and Monica. These characters also come from different houses in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, suggesting that the three groups will continue to interact in Three Hopes. While the Fire Emblem: Three Hopes trailer revealed some of the characters that Fire Emblem fans can expect, it may have several more familiar faces waiting to uncover.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes releases for Nintendo Switch on June 24, 2022.
