Maki Oze is one of the most powerful women in Fire Force, but there's more to this second-generation pyrokinetic than just raw strength. Beyond her impressive physique, the third member of Company 8 is a complicated woman with a command over flames that rivals even some of the higher-ranking members of the Special Fire Force. The self-proclaimed "Gorilla Cyclops" of the 8th boasts power, courage, and a dedication to duty that could put many of her colleagues to shame. If all of these impressive qualities weren't enough, Maki is also good-looking to boot. With that in mind, it's time to take a closer look at Fire Force's beefy beauty.

Maki Oze was the third soldier to enlist with Company 8, under Captain Akitaru Obi. Lieutenant Takehisa Hinawa, who previously worked with her in the military, recruited her himself, citing the qualities that made her a poor fit for her current position as strengths she could bring to the 8th. Oze takes her role in Company 8 very seriously, and deeply respects the captain and lieutenant. While she's still young herself, Maki takes on somewhat of an older sister role with the younger members of the 8th, looking after the rookies and even assisting in their training. She's well-known for not only her good looks, but her extraordinary combat ability and pyrokinetic skills.

The Many Woes of a Military Brat

Maki is the youngest daughter of Danrou Oze, an intimidating general of the Tokyo Imperial Army. In fact, her entire family has ties to the military. Her mother, Madoka, was also a soldier before settling down, and her brother, Takigi, is a First Lieutenant. Because of this, her family, specifically her father and brother, would prefer she return to life within the military. If they had their way, Maki would be relegated to a non-combat role, where she'd stay safe out of harm's way. She is well-loved by her family, especially her father, Danrou, who shows his soft side when it comes to his precious daughter. In fact, having a dual-sided personality seems to run in the Oze family. They all love hard, but can show their fiery side when instigated.

The Duality of Maki

Maki's complicated personality is highlighted when her demeanor on and off the battlefield is compared. Sometimes dubbed "Witch" or "Ogress", the 8th's platoon leader is a force to be reckoned with. Using a combination of hand-to-hand combat and advanced pyrokinetic techniques, Oze has a versatility in the field that's hard to match. An ace on both the front and back lines, she can single-handedly turn the tides or coordinate with others to pull off amazing feats. Outside of battle, Maki is often reserved, carrying an air of feminity and mindfulness. She's said to have a head full of flowers, crafting flames into the cute forms of Sputter and Flare, and often daydreams about romance. While she takes charge in the field, she often folds under the pressure of her superiors, particularly Lt. Hinawa, behaving much more meekly. She also often puts down her figure, believing she's too muscular, yet never lets up on the training that has contributed to her sturdy build.
