Summary
- A recent patch for The First Berserker: Khazan resolves memory spike issues causing crashes on PlayStation 5.
- The patch also fixes invisible projectiles, lack of item rewards, and removes an exploit for easy points.
The First Berserker: Khazan's development team has fixed a major issue that should prevent crashes and loss of save data for players on PlayStation 5. While this latest patch for The First Berserker: Khazan includes some corrections that apply to all platforms that support it, PlayStation players have been suffering from memory spike issues that have been booting them from the game, and that issue should now be resolved.
Developed by Neople, the same studio behind the Dungeon Fighter Online series, The First Berserker: Khazan was released on March 27, 2025. A generally grittier offering than the series that Neople had previously been known for, the new hardcore action RPG has resonated well with fans and professional critics alike, earning generally positive average scores across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
First Berserker: Khazan Players Are Frustrated With Standing Alone Achievement
The soulslike action RPG The First Berserker: Khazan features a buggy ‘Standing Alone’ achievement, and players aren’t too happy.
But numerous, frustrating bugs in The First Berserker: Khazan, including ones that cause crashes, have marred its otherwise high ratings, particularly on PlayStation 5. One big source of those crashes has now been addressed in a new set of patch notes released on April 9. The bug in question had been caused by memory spikes that occurred when players would open their inventory screens, but as of patch 01.004.004, that issue has now been resolved. Players who have lost access to save data because of this bug or other crashes can recover it by selecting the load and recover options from the title menu, which should display up to three different recently made backup files.
Along with fixing the memory spike bug on PlayStation 5, the latest version of the game includes a few bug fixes that should make the game run more smoothly across all platforms, a couple of which apply to The First Berserker: Khazan's bosses. Projectile skill effects launched by Ilyna, Reese, and Trokka should no longer erroneously be invisible to players, and the patch also removes a bug that had been causing some players to not receive the Master of Chaos scroll from the true ending's final encounter. Additionally, a bug that had been preventing regular monsters from ever being cataloged correctly when players fail to meet Daphrona's Codex requirements on their first encounter has also been addressed.
In addition to these changes, there is one bug fix that removes an exploit that had been making the game too easy for some players. This fix removes players' ability to farm Vengeance Points in The First Berserker: Khazan by repeatedly completing the bonus mission titled Stormpass' Phantom of Combat.
