A lot of scary horror video games usually give players access to some sort of torch or flashlight to make things easier to see in the dark, and in Cronos: The New Dawn, Bloober Team's take on a Dead Space-like game, indeed has a light you can take advantage of, but it doesn't work like it does in other games.

Here's what you need to know about using the flashlight in Cronos: The New Dawn in case you're struggling to see what's around.

Players will need to find the key for Jedrus Hardware Store to get the bolt cutters inside. Here's the location of the key in Cronos: The New Dawn.

How Do You Use the Flashlight in Cronos: The New Dawn?

It's too dark!

When you first start Cronos: The New Dawn, the default visual settings may make the game seem a bit on the darker side, but do not fret. After exploring the opening section and using the Old Rusty Key on the first locked door on the critical path, the flashlight will appear on your person automatically. This is during the main objective to 'Find the Predecessor.'

And unfortunately, there is no way to toggle the flashlight on and off in Cronos: The New Dawn. To make the horror experience a little more cinematic and spooky, the game will automatically turn the light on and off, depending on the section. This means that if you find yourself wanting the flashlight on, you will just have to wait until the game decides to do it by itself.

Some players might find this to be annoying, but the flashlight will be on when you need it the most, so it shouldn't be a major issue during your gameplay sessions with Cronos: The New Dawn.

How to Make Cronos: The New Dawn Brighter

If you think Cronos: The New Dawn is way too dark for your liking, you can simply head into the pause menu and hit the Settings button. From there, tab over to the Display section and then click on HDR Calibration.

We turned up the HDR brightness setting to 1.41, and that seemed to do the trick. If you want to copy all of my display setting sliders, you can check out the details below:
