The casting process is something that's continuing to take place right now, and a lot of fans have wondered whether anyone from the Harry Potter movies would end up returning to play different roles. While certain stars have ruled themselves out of the project, certain actors appear more open to the idea.

Hero Fiennes-Tiffin portrayed a young Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and he revealed to US Weekly that he's not against returning to the Wizarding World. He said, "I would 100 percent be open to coming back as any character in the HBO Harry Potter series. Listen, tell them to," he said before making a 'call me' gesture. When it comes to who Fiennes-Tiffin would want to play, he made it clear that he'd like to reprise his role as Riddle, only this time taking on the full Lord Voldemort character. "I don't think I could be anyone else. I'm not just Team Tom Riddle; I'm Team Slytherin as well. So, if it is anyone else, I think it's gotta be Team Slytherin. I've picked my name from the hat; I'm Slytherin 'till I die."

Fiennes-Tiffin taking on the role of Lord Voldemort would be a special twist of fate, considering he is the nephew of Ralph Fiennes, who played the Harry Potter villain in the movies. However, the former Dark Lord has publicly pushed for Cillian Murphy to take on the role in the upcoming television series.

"Cillian is a fantastic actor," he told Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. "That's a wonderful suggestion. I would be all I favor of Cillian, yeah."

Lord Voldemort doesn't appear in the Harry Potter series until the fourth movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Therefore, HBO has plenty of time to cast this role and is not likely to be focusing on it right now. However, the television series is expected to do things slightly differently from the movies, so there is a chance that the iconic villain could turn up sooner than that.

Ozark star Janet McTeer has been linked to the role of Professor McGonagall, while HBO is reportedly closing in on Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape. The casting of these important roles is ultimately going to be crucial to the overall success of the Harry Potter television series, and Lord Voldemort fits into that category. Fiennes-Tiffin does have a personal connection to the role, but he's not so synonymous with the movies that bringing him back would feel out of place or forced, which could make him an interesting choice. But whatever road HBO takes, it will be important that they nail the casting of Lord Voldemort to give the Harry Potter series the best chance to thrive.
