Like all multiplayer games, Fortnite's smooth gameplay is reliant on the player's internet connection. If the connection isn't good, players might experience lag. As a result, movement might seem delayed, affecting the chances of winning intense battles. That's why it's crucial to know how to check ping in Fortnite, as not even a Mythic weapon can save someone from poor ping.

How to Check Ping & FPS in Fortnite

Ping is a term used to measure latency or the delay between the player's gaming device and the game server. It is often referred to as "player's lag" because a higher ping value can result in a delay or lag in the game. Ping is measured in milliseconds (ms), and a lower ping value indicates a shorter delay. For example, if the ping is 30, it means that the delay between the player and the Fortnite server is 30 milliseconds.

In Fortnite, checking the ping is really important for smooth gameplay in the new locations. If players want to show their ping on-screen, here are the steps that they need to follow:

Enter the Fortnite Lobby
Enter Settings
Access the Game UI tab
Navigate to the HUD Options Category
Look for Net Debug Stats and select ON
Save Changes in the Settings by clicking Apply at the bottom of the screen

Once activated, in-game ping will appear as a small number on the player's screen.

After saving the settings, players can jump into the match and look for their ping at the top of the screen. With this option enabled, players can quickly spot any fluctuations and packet losses in their ping, to make sure their connection is fine, or look for connectivity hiccups during gameplay. If the ping is somewhere between 0 and 50, players will experience very few delays, if any. On the other hand, a ping of more than 100 can cause significant delays.
