Since the game's launch back in 2017, Fortnite has become the king of crossovers. When it comes to marketing, games, movies, TV shows, and even major brands have made Fortnite crossovers a major part of promotional efforts. There has been a cornucopia of great collaborations and partnerships featured in the game, and one of those popular crossovers was with Arcane. Unfortunately, these specific skins may not be returning any time soon.
Based on League of Legends, Arcane brought Netflix a unique and beloved video game adaptation. Protagonists Jinx and Vi lead the series, and their addition to Fortnite back in 2021 was exciting for a lot of gamers. Many have wanted the two characters to return, but recent statements from Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill have left fans disappointed, as he made it sound as though Jinx and Vi wouldn't return to the battle royale; at least not any time soon. There is still a silver lining, though, that could pave the way for another League of Legends crossover with Fortnite.

There Are More League of Legends Shows Currently in Development
Arcane Was Just the Beginning
Last year, Arcane showrunner Christian Linke revealed in a Twitch interview that the next planned League of Legends show has already been in development for close to a year. Arcane only lasted two seasons, but fans of the series still have plenty to look forward to. Even better, though, is that this means Fortnite could have plenty of League of Legends crossover opportunities on the way.
Which League of Legends Regions Are Getting Their Own Shows?
- Noxus
- Demacia
- Ionia
This trio of lands in the League of Legends universe opens the door to a deep well for Fortnite to draw from once these shows are finally complete. Right now, it's unclear who the protagonists of any future TV series will be, but another partnership between Fortnite and Riot Games isn't too far outside the realm of possibility. Fortnite is no stranger to repeat crossovers, so hopefully Riot Games will embrace the battle royale game once more when the time comes to promote the next show.
League of Legends' most recent in-game season, Welcome to Noxus, began back in January. The empire of Noxus is defined by its reputation as a brutal and strength-obsessed society.
When addressing the one-off nature of the Jinx and Vi skins, Marc Merrill stated, "They’ve been great partners, but we haven’t been able to find the right fit to bring the Arcane skins back, and it unfortunately won’t be happening in the foreseeable future." Considering that the final season of Arcane premiered late last year, that would've seemed like the perfect time to bring the skins back, which makes Merrill's statement a bit surprising.
Last year, Arcane was nominated for Best Adaptation at the 2024 Game Awards. The award ultimately went to the Fallout series. Both shows star actor Ella Purnell.
Arcane's Follow-Up Shows Remain a Mystery
One of the biggest questions in the League of Legends community right now is when the first post-Arcane show will show itself. Arcane was incredibly well-received by both critics and viewers, and it makes the prospect of more spin-offs that much more exciting. The promise of getting a deep dive into Noxus, Demacia, and Ionia is thrilling, but this may prove to be a test of patience. It's a bummer that Jinx and Vi are unlikely to come back to Fortnite any time soon, but on the bright side, fresh skins could very well become a reality down the road.
