Epic Games and Backbone are joining forces this holiday and giving away a free cosmetic item. Some players are eligible to unlock the Clyde skin in Fortnite completely free of charge - this guide tells players what they need to do in order to take advantage of this offer and how to claim the free skin.

How to Gain Access to the Clyde Quest in Fortnite

As of December 3, 2025, players who purchase the Backbone Pro will receive a code that allows them to unlock the Clyde skin for free. For those unfamiliar with this device, the Backbone allows players to use their phones as a gaming console. They attach it to the backbone, and it becomes a screen. They then use the backbone as a controller.

To unlock the Clyde skin, players will need to complete the Clyde Quest, which will only be added to players accounts if they follow these steps:

  1. Connect the Backbone Pro to the Backbone app
  2. Go to the Home screen and claim the Clyde Outfit Quest code in the Perks row
  3. Go to fortnite.com/redeem, log in, and enter the code
  4. Start Fortnite on mobile, PC, or a cloud streaming platform to gain access to the Clyde Quest

How to Get the Clyde Skin in Fortnite

Once players have claimed the Clyde Quest, all they need to do is complete it in order to receive the skin. The Clyde Quest requires players to earn 100,000 XP while playing on mobile, pc, or a cloud streaming platforms.

Players can easily level up in Fortnite by completing quests, playing XP maps, and simply exploring the various modes available in the game. Gamers will be happy to know that an account level is only 80,000 XP, so they will be able to earn the required amount of experience points in no time.

This offer is not exclusive to the Backbone x Fortnite promotional offer. Players will be able to purchase Clyde in the Item Shop at a later date.
