Ever since Chapter 1 Season 4, Fortnite has provided Mystery Outfits for players to obtain through unique methods in the Fortnite Battle Pass. Each Battle Pass has had a secret skin associated with it, whether it’s been a Fortnite original or a collab from another franchise, providing players with some truly epic outfits for their locker.
Fortnite: 18 Rarest Skin in 2024
Fortnite celebrates its 7th anniversary in 2024, but within that time, there are still some skins that haven't returned in over half that time.
With these mid-season challenges, players can get outfits like no other. Whether it’s a secret skin or a bonus outfit, most of the best skins in Fortnite actually come from Battle Passes, so why not look back across 7 years of Fortnite history to see the best secret skins that have featured so far?
8 The Prisoner
A Terrifying and Unchained Antagonist
- Featured in: Chapter 1: Season 7
- Release Date: January 31, 2019
The Prisoner is one of the more unique secret skins to feature in Chapter 1 of Fortnite, back when secret skins actually were in fact secret. The Prisoner has unique styles where players have to search for things around the Battle Royale map. With the Snowfall Challenges, players could grab this Fortnite-original, a character with strong antagonist ties to the island and its volcanic changes, but a skin such as this can’t really compete with epic collabs.
7 Indiana Jones
A Skin So Cool, It Belongs in a Museum
- Featured in: Chapter 3: Season 3
- Release Date: July 6, 2022
Few adventurers have the fame and acclaim of Indiana Jones, which is why it makes him such a cool secret skin. Indiana Jones featured in Donald Mustard’s farewell to Fortnite, providing the game with a celebration of so many cool franchises. Not only did this season feature Darth Vader, but the fact that it holds Indiana Jones with unique cosmetics makes it a must-have for fans of the world-famous archaeologist and his smug charm. Sadly, this Battle Pass exclusive is one that players can never get again, but at least Harrison Ford’s Han Solo features in the Item Shop.
Fortnite: Best Marvel Skins
Marvel has plenty of skins in Fortnite, ranging from comic appearances to the MCU, and here are some fan favorites.
6 The Foundation
The Seven Find Their Rock
- Featured in: Chapter 3: Season 1
- Release Date: February 3, 2022
Fortnite’s lore exploded with the Seven, and it seemed the introduction of each new member was better than the last. That’s especially true when the Foundation appeared, and the Seven’s leader revealed himself to be known other than Dwayne Johnson. Having The Rock in Fortnite is one thing, but having him lead the charge as the Foundation is truly epic, and one that made his appearance a real treat to obtain, especially with his iconic eyebrow raise when players take the Foundation’s mask off.
5 The Visitor
The Debuting Member of the Seven and Fortnite’s Lore
- Featured in: Chapter 1: Season 4
- Release Date: June 12, 2018
Chapter 1 Season 4 was a true change in Fortnite, providing players with a thrilling Battle Pass, an epic secret skin, and the first Live Event. The Visitor holds strong origins in Fortnite, and his introduction as a secret skin so early into Fortnite’s history provides a historic place. The first secret skin, and one that would have many lore implications as part of the Seven, the Visitor has been a beloved grail to collectors for years.
4 Geralt of Rivia
The Witcher Debuts to Hunt Victory Royales
- Featured in: Chapter 4: Season 1
- Release Date: February 7, 2023
The iconic monster hunter trades being a hunter for hire for a Battle Royale champ, seeking the thrill of survival and glory of a Victory Royale. Geralt of Rivia is one of the most iconic fictional characters in gaming and literature, so to see him appear in identical fashion to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is a real treat, especially when players could have earned him at the debut of Chapter 4, complete with his own epic cosmetics that celebrate this Witcher’s past.
3 Clark Kent (Superman)
The Most Recognizable Hero Flies From the Battle Bus
- Featured in: Chapter 2: Season 7
- Release Date: August 10, 2021
Fortnite now features two versions of Superman, with the latest being that of David Corenswet from James Gunn’s Superman movie, releasing July 11, 2025. Yet, before Corenswet’s Superman, there was Clark Kent, Fortnite’s original design for the DC superhero who could change into Superman with an emote. Clark Kent was a great secret skin, especially since he’s the only character in Fortnite to have a unique falling animation from the Battle Bus, in which he flies with an arm raised outwards in the iconic Superman pose.

2 Wolverine
The Best There Is At What He Does, Bub
- Featured in: Chapter 2: Season 4
- Release Date: October 1, 2020
Chapter 2 Season 4 brought about an exciting change to the Fortnite formula by providing players with a season that was entirely filled with Marvel characters. With a Marvel theme and plenty of enjoyable cosmetics, there was one adamantium-filled Canadian that was absent for a while, but luckily, Wolverine slashed his way through to become the secret skin. Not only is Wolverine seen as one of the best Marvel characters, but he’s also got an expansive set of cosmetics. A unique pickaxe that sees him use his claws, and 3 distinct styles will provide players with the perfect Wolverine.
1 Deadpool
The First Secret Collab Skin is a Merc With a Mouth
- Featured in: Chapter 2: Season 2
- Release Date: April 3, 2020
Deadpool is the very first collab for a secret skin involved in a Battle Pass. If it wasn’t for Deadpool, then the secret skin each season might not be a beloved and highly popular collab from franchises outside of Fortnite originals. Deadpool came in with a wonderful outfit, complete with a Mask Off style and X-Force costume to choose from. While it’s a shame players can’t get Deadpool anymore, it’s nice to see Fortnite’s dedication and partnerships with huge companies like Marvel.
