Summary

  • Epic Games nerfs War Machine's Hover Jet in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 with significant changes.
  • Marvel-themed weapons and items in the game lead to rebalancing due to their overpowering nature.
  • Players express frustration over recent nerfs, impacting the gameplay and overall enjoyment of the season.

Epic Games has nerfed another popular Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 item, this time hitting War Machine's Hover Jet with numerous changes. When Fortnite launched its Chapter 5 Season 4 content update on August 16, it introduced a plethora of new weapons and items for players to get their hands on, but many of these new additions have already been nerfed by Epic Games.

Not only did Chapter 5 Season 4 introduce a new Fortnite Battle Pass filled with an abundance of Marvel-themed skins, but it also brought a redesigned battle royale island, new weapons, items, and more. As the new season is themed around Marvel, many of the game's newly introduced weapons have been inspired by the likes of Captain America, Doctor Doom, War Machine, and many more. Unfortunately, given the massive popularity of these weapons and mythic items, players quickly discovered how overpowered some of them truly are, resulting in various balance adjustments from Epic Games.

One Marvel character who appears to have gotten a lot of love in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 is War Machine, receiving three different weapons and items for players to get their hands on. Unfortunately, one of the character's most popular items has received a hefty nerf. On August 21, Fortnite leaker and data miner HYPEX took to Twitter to reveal that War Machine's Hover Jets had received a substantial nerf. From boosting speed to duration, the Hover Jet will no longer feel like it did at the beginning of Chapter 5 Season 4.

Fortnite Hover Jet Nerf Explained

  • Hover Jet's fuel consumption increased by 150%
  • Hover Jet's maximum speed nerfed by 25%
  • Hover Jet's boost can now be used less often

Although War Machine's Hover Jet received some pretty substantial nerfs, it is also worth noting that the overall boost duration was slightly buffed and has now been increased by a further 12%. This marks the second War Machine item to be nerfed since the release of Chapter 5 Season 4, as HYPEX also reported on August 20 that War Machine's Arsenal Rockets had received a hefty debuff alongside Captain America's Shield and the Sovereign Shotgun. While fans don't appear to be happy with the recent nerf to War Machine's Hover Jet, an abundance of Fortnite players were unhappy with Captain America's Shield, so its recent nerf was more than welcome.

With so many mythic weapons introduced in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, the recent nerfs shouldn't be surprising to players, but that hasn't stopped some fans from being upset. Plenty of casual players believe the recent Hover Jet nerf is down to the more competitive players, with some users even stating that the season has been "ruined" and is "cooked." Considering Chapter 5 Season 4 isn't even a week old yet, fans could be in for a long season, especially if more nerfs are in the works.
