Summary

  • The Death Star is coming to Fortnite in a new Star Wars crossover season.
  • Leaked images show the Death Star looming ominously in the sky.
  • The Star Wars crossover season for Fortnite is called Galactic Battle.

The Death Star is coming to Fortnite, and fans might have an idea about what the infamous Star Wars battle station will look like when it arrives. The world of Fortnite has been threatened by all-destroying phenomena in the past, such as Marvel’s planet-devouring villain Galactus in Chapter 2 Season 3. Now, the Galactic Empire’s greatest weapon will lock its targeting computers on the Island as part of an upcoming Star Wars crossover season.

This newest crossover between Fortnite and Star Wars was announced during Star Wars Celebration Japan last weekend, which featured big reveals for upcoming Star Wars gaming projects and other media. Titled Galactic Battle, this season will add new playable skins of legendary Jedi master Mace Windu and the dreaded Darth Jar Jar - the latter based on the popular fan theory that Jar Jar Binks was actually the mastermind of the Sith’s takeover of the Republic the whole time. There will even be an appearance by the Death Star, the nefarious super weapon that first terrorized theatergoers in Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope.

Fortnite is getting a crossover with the MCU film Thunderbolts.
Fortnite Is Getting Another MCU Crossover

Fortnite surprises fans by announcing that more characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be making their way to the popular battle royale.

Some fans think they have already seen traces of the Death Star looming above the Fortnite Island, and noted leaker ShiinaBR thinks they have a good idea of how it will eventually look when it gets within firing range. They recently shared what looks like a leaked image from SpushFNBR and KPMisParrot showing the Death Star hanging ominously in the sky above the Island. Indeed, the large, sphere-shaped object looks like the legendary battle station, complete with its signature superlaser array.

While Fortnite has featured many cosmetics from the Star Wars franchise (not to mention a message from Emperor Palpatine ahead of his surprise return in The Rise of Skywalker back in 2019), this will likely be Epic’s biggest crossover with the Galaxy Far, Far, Away yet. The festivities will kick off on May 2 and run all the way into June, with the last major event possibly being centered around an effort to sabotage the Death Star before it can reduce the Island to space dust with its powerful superlaser.

The Death Star will apparently make its way to the Island slowly during the Galactic Battle season, growing ever larger as it draws closer to its doomed destination. While it does, Fortnite players should prepare themselves for the arrival of the armed and fully operational battle station that once served as the ultimate symbol of the Empire’s tyranny, at least until Luke Skywalker heroically destroyed it with a one-in-a-million proton torpedo shot at the end of the original Star Wars movie.
