The Star Wars franchise has come to Fortnite in a few previous seasons, and these two juggernauts are coming together again in the upcoming Death Star Sabotage live event. This collaboration has some similarities to previous crossovers, but there are a few twists that make it stand out. Deservedly so, as the game’s official media depicts it as the “conclusion” to the galactic battle.

The Death Star Sabotage Event is coming to Fortnite on June 7 at 2pm EDT. It’s the final event in Galactic Battle (Chapter 6: Mini Season 1), which is alternatively known as the 35th season of Fortnite. Each event within the season continues the story that started with “I: Imperial Takeover,” which sees the Empire and Rebels in a dog fight in the skies of Oninoshima, with Rey and Emperor Palpatine guiding each side. These continuations are shown from the perspectives of different characters, like Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and even the Mandalorians. Meanwhile, the final installment will focus on the Rebels looking to take over the Star Destroyer. However, no additional information has been officially released about this phase's story, and players will need to wait for the June 7th patch to find out more.

Fortnite’s Death Star Sabotage Lets Players Control a Legendary Ship’s Artillery

Some Lucky Players Will Get to Man the Star Destroyer’s Turbolaser

Avid fans will have realized, starting May 29, that lasers have been raining down from above in their Battle Royale and Fortnite Zero Build matches. This is because some lucky players in their queue were recruited to become pilots of the Star Destroyer. Players can earn this privilege by finding and using a rift gate, which will transport them to the ship. The artillery destroys every structure in its path and can gravely wound anyone who gets directly hit by its lasers. Luckily for everyone else, the pilots will have to abandon ship once the Star Destroyer reaches the end of its journey on the battlefield.

The Galaxy Rewards Those Who Log Into Fortnite and Watch the Game on Twitch

Fortnite’s Death Star event offers a bunch of rewards that are easy to get for most players.

  • Login Rewards: Those who sign into the game from June 3 to June 10 at 9am EDT will get two exciting rewards: the Quicksilver Baton Spear Pickaxe and a loading screen called “Assault on the Death Star.” Star Wars fans will identify the former as the close-range weapon of choice of Captain Phasma, a character who players encountered in Fortnite before.
  • Twitch Rewards: Fans who want to rep their favorite Star Wars faction in Fortnite can do so by watching select content creator streams on Twitch. Players can find items being shown on screen during the stream, which they can acquire by clicking on them. When they complete the items in the collection, they’ll unlock sprays featuring the insignia of the Rebel Alliance, the Galactic Empire, the Jedi Order, CIS, and the First Order.
  • Darth Jar Jar is Real: Sith Lord Jar Jar believers will get a kick out of one reward for this event. Players can get a Darth Jar Jar emoticon when they log into their Twitch profile that’s also connected to their Epic account. Those who connect their accounts for the first time will also get it.

The Galactic Warfare Extends to Fortnite’s Twitch Community

Each participating channel in the event will have a progress bar tallying the number of items that its viewers collect. Once they complete this goal, they can take over another participating creator’s stream to steal their items. However, the latter’s viewers can buckle down in defense of their community by spamming the Darth Jar Jar emote. There’s also a community goal that counts all the items that Fortnite players collect across all partnered channels. Once players rally together to reach the goal, they’ll receive the “Galaxy War” loading screen, which illustrates all the phases of the Galactic Battle mini-season. Therefore, players who want to deck out their Fortnite and Twitch experience with Star Wars art should play and watch the game throughout the Death Star Sabotage event.
