What is Fortnite Expert Mode?
Fortnite Expert is a Battle Royale mode that will place people into lobbies that have no bots and no skill-based matchmaking (SBMM). This is an optional change that players can find in Fortnite OG's mode selection by selecting Duo (Expert), and it will place them in a lobby with 80 real players, meaning not a single opponent they face will be a bot. While no bots is a treat for players who like to feel the real thrill of the fight, Fortnite Expert also removes SBMM, which is perfect for those who want randomized competition. In some games, they might fight someone on their skill level, or they might fight someone who is far worse or far greater. The beauty of no SBMM means that everyone can join the fun, win or lose.
How to Play Fortnite with No Bots and No Matchmaking
Fortnite Expert is the mode players are looking for if they want to play without bots and without skill-based matchmaking, and it's available in Fortnite OG for Duos. If Expert is successful, this new mode will be expected to release for Zero Build and the standard Battle Royale matchmaking, along with availability for Solo, Trios, and Squads, but as of July 29, 2025, it's only available in Fortnite OG's Build Mode for Duos.
