Fortnite has seen a long and endless life, one of great success both critically and commercially. Every few months, a new season unravels like a tapestry in the Battle Royale’s titan formula, unveiling a new level of fun and silliness for all.
With the latest season rolling out across the entirety of Fortnite, fans might be wondering what weapons, items, and consumables have been left behind this time. When something is vaulted, it means it is removed from the game, and can often stay there forever, or just until there needs to be a change in the meta.
10 Minigun
The minigun was first introduced in Chapter 1, Season 2 as an Epic and Legendary weapon. This behemoth of a weapon was very good at taking out player-built structures and does not need to be reloaded. Its rate of fire is rapid, and its spread is somewhat unpredictable. This, paired with the cool-down period, made many players leave this weapon behind.
Epic Games also left the minigun behind, and have vaulted it a few times. The minigun was vaulted lastly in Chapter 2, Season 6, and has yet to be unvaulted since Chapter 3, Season 3, even though the sound files were updated in Update v16.30.
9 Crafted Bows
With the introduction of Chapter 2, Season 6, things got a tad bit wild on Fortnite. The map was filled with wildlife, and some weapons fit the namesake of the newest season: “Primal.” These bows would be perfect for the new Reality Tree. What made the map primal was the use of bows, a weapon that was easy to find, and could be upgraded into different types of bows depending on what items the player had.
This weapon was only available in Chapter 2, Season 6, and was vaulted at the end of that season, with no sign of these sets of bows coming back into the mix. The bow was quick on the draw, but using an ancient weapon against the likes of machine guns was never a good idea.
8 Combat Shotgun
This shotgun was a complete game-changer in Fortnite. As released as part of a reference to John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the weapon soon made alterations to the meta for a long time. As introduced in Chapter 1, Season 9, the combat shotgun made all other shotguns obsolete.
The DPS of this gun, range, and magazine size were superior to most shotguns and almost acted like a rifle in the powerful kick of damage it could give out. It was last vaulted in Chapter 3, Season 1, but had its damage increased for creative mode in Chapter 3, Season 2, meaning a comeback could soon be dawning.
7 Kingsman
Perhaps one of the most forgotten weapons in all of Fortnite, The Kingsman was a melee weapon for Chapter 2, Season 2, and was assumed to be a collaboration item to the Kingsmen cinematic franchise. This unique umbrella could be used to glide, attack, and block.
The Kingsman was vaulted in the very same season it was released and has yet to make a sound. It is highly unlikely that the Kingsman will ever return from the Vault. Its melee damage wasn’t great, and players could only block a few shots before faltering.
6 Infinity Blade
A melee weapon that was introduced in Chapter 1, Season 7, The Infinity Blade was feared by many. The Infinity Blade comes from Epic Games’ mobile game “Infinity Blade,” and makes a rather short appearance in Fortnite. This weapon could be found embedded in a stone, and whoever wields it holds godly power.
This weapon lasted all but three days in the Core Battle Royale playlists. There was much community backlash against this weapon since many considered it to be overpowered. Players cannot hold anything but the sword, but considering the mythic weapon deals insane damage and heals the player, it is well worth the weight.
5 Spire Jump Boots
These unique boots were only available in Chapter 2, Season 6. The boots themselves have a function similar to the Super Mario franchise, in which players can jump three times in a row to gain a boost of vertical distance. To obtain them was like a quest within the Battle Royale game.
The Spire Jump Boots were not worth the effort to obtain. Players needed to find a Spire Guardian at any of the Guardian Towers, and eliminate the miniboss to obtain a Runestone. This Runestone could be carried to The Spire to unlock the boots. Whilst carrying the Runestone, players are unable to use weapons.
4 Inflate-A-Bull
Introduced and removed in Chapter 2, Season 7, the Inflate-a-Bull was a play on the term “inflatable,” and was a fun item that took up a weapons slot. This gave players unique back bling which they could activate with a durability gauge and a timer, to bounce around in a cow ball. This was the first time players could technically ride an animal.
It was disabled on its first day because of how buggy it could be but was brought back after the fix. It was great for traversing long distances, escaping opponents, and rolling down hills. Players can use the Inflate-a-Bull to negate fall damage at high distances.
3 Explosive Batarang
A Mythic throwable item. The Explosive Batarang was introduced in Chapter 1, Season X. It could only be found in Gotham City in stacks of five, a POI that replaced Tilted Towers. This was the only season the Batarang was in and was part of a collaboration to tease the arrival of a Batman and Catwoman outfit that could be purchased in a bundle for real money.
The Batarang worked like the Proximity Mine and would attach to surfaces and explode for 50 damage if opponents got close enough to its range. It wasn’t a memorable weapon and was not used by many, but its use as a tease for a Batman skin was a favorite of many.
2 All Terrain Kart
The All Terrain Kart was the first drivable vehicle in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It was introduced in Chapter 1, Season 5, after the success of the fun vehicle of the Shopping Kart. This vehicle predated the need for gas that vehicles have in Fortnite now and could hold up to four players. It was noted for the other two seats being on the roof, in which they could emote and use their weapons.
The All Terrain Kart was vaulted in Chapter 1, Season 8, but was accidentally unvaulted in Chapter 2, Season 8. Due to fans’ love of the vehicle, it remained in the game for the rest of the season and has yet to return. This crazy kart could also power slide like the Mario Kart series.
1 Port-A-Fort
Fans of Fortnite have seen the game go through many, many changes. Not only are the players different, but the weapons, outfits, and maps change throughout the weeks. Players have been noted as becoming better at building, a core mechanic in Fortnite. For those that don’t enjoy building, Chapter 1, Season 3 had the Port-a-Fort.
This item could be thrown to create an instant metal fort that gives players the high ground, something Darth Vader would benefit from. It’s four tiles tall and was used to quickly gain vertical height. It was vaulted in Chapter 1, Season 7, and only appeared in Chapter 2, Season 4 after, and has not returned since.
