Summary
- A Fortnite leak reveals General Grievous's unmasked face in a Fortnite skin model.
- The unmasked face resembles his appearance in Star Wars comics, impressing fans.
- So far, there is no option for an unmasked General Grievous skin in Fortnite.
Star Wars fans can get a new look at General Grievous’s unmasked face thanks to a Fortnite leak. Epic’s latest Fortnite season has brought fans plenty of Star Wars content, including skins of characters like Mace Windu and the infamous “Darth Jar-Jar.” There is now even an AI Darth Vader NPC that can talk to players in the iconic voice of James Earl Jones, as long as they avoid certain controversial topics.
Vader isn’t the only Star Wars villain making his presence felt on the Island, as Fortnite recently launched its General Grievous skins after a brief delay. As many Star Wars fans know, Grievous was a field commander for the Separatist Army during the Clone Wars, trained in the Jedi arts by Count Dooku and enhanced with cybernetic limbs and implants. Before getting these upgrades, Grievous was a Kaleesh warlord named Qymaen jai Sheelal, with his true face even being shown in an issue of 2019’s Star Wars Age of Republic - General Grievous.
Where to Find AI Darth Vader in Fortnite (& How to Speak with Him)
Darth Vader has arrived as an AI NPC that players can speak to with their voices to hear responses from the iconic Sith Lord.
General Grievous has an alternate Fortnite skin of himself from before his transformation into the cyborg Jedi killer of Star Wars lore, and it seems that Epic went to great pains to model the face beneath his skull-like war mask. This was discovered by WizarConcepts on Twitter, who shared a leaked image of Grievous with his face exposed. This face matches the one shown in the Age of Republic comic, sporting dark red skin, yellow reptilian eyes, and bony tusks on the sides of Grievous’s mouth. Unfortunately, Epic isn’t offering an official unmasked General Grievous skin at this time.
General Grievous Fortnite Skin Has Unmasked Face
Still, Fortnite players who have seen this leak are impressed at the level of detail Epic has shown in its crossover content, especially since this is the first time that Grievous has been unmasked in a Star Wars video game. Past looks at Grievous’s original Kaleesh appearance in other Star Wars media have either been as a statue in a darkened room or in an illustrated comic book art style, so this Fortnite model is probably the closest fans could get to seeing his organic face as it would look like in a live-action Star Wars project.
Given that the General Grievous skin has a mask on at all times, Epic could have been excused for not bothering to model a Kaleesh face underneath it, making the fact that Fortnite developers did all the more noteworthy. It also doubles as an interesting Easter egg for Star Wars fans who have wondered for 20 years what Grievous looked like before his transformation into a cyborg general and lightsaber collector out to slaughter Jedi and Clone Troopers alike.
