Summary

  • Fortnite is known for its crossovers with big franchises like Marvel, Rick & Morty, and potentially Grand Theft Auto.
  • Epic Games takes in fan feedback through surveys, and GTA's appearance four times within a recent survey hints at a future collaboration between the games.
  • The upcoming release of GTA 6 in 2025 could make a collaboration with Fortnite a huge hit among players, especially if it releases close to that game's debut.

Since its launch, Fortnite has quickly become the king of crossovers, as high-profile properties from pop culture are constantly being added to the game. Whether through special in-game events or one-of-a-kind skins, Fortnite has managed to get some of the biggest franchises featured in the game, with the likes of Marvel Comics and Rick & Morty being merely the tip of the iceberg.

As Fortnite continues to grow, the events and crossovers aim to go bigger and better. However, fan feedback is just as important as brand recognition, and Epic Games takes this into consideration. Via surveys, Epic Games sometimes asks for fan opinion in order to gauge what types of in-game content and collaborations players are interested in. These Fortnite surveys can create rumors about what crossovers are coming next, and the Grand Theft Auto franchise has now found itself in the rumor mill.

Grand Theft Auto Could Possibly Come to Fortnite

Epic Games Survey Sparks Rumors

A summer survey for Fortnite players has brought theories about a GTA crossover to its apex, as the franchise has been mentioned in these surveys several times now. In a survey for June 2024, GTA was actually mentioned multiple times as potential crossover features.

  • Michael (GTA 5 protagonist)
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
  • Grand Theft Auto (Franchise)

It's one thing to be mentioned a single time in one of these Epic Games surveys, but being featured four different times in the same questionnaire is significant. Fortnite rumors are constantly popping up in the fan base, but the continuing mention of the GTA franchise in this community outreach gives more weight to these particular theories. GTA was even featured in May's community survey, but the June outreach has pointed an even brighter spotlight on the franchise.

The possibilities for Fortnite collaborations are endless, and a GTA crossover could prove to be a huge hit among players. Although GTA 5's Michael or San Andreas' CJ may not have the same visual pull as Deadpool and Wolverine, they are still iconic characters in gaming that would have a lot of appeal. There has yet to be any confirmation of a Fortnite and GTA collaboration, but the upcoming year could present the perfect opportunity to feature popular franchise faces in the battle royale title.

Fortnite Could Capitalize on Grand Theft Auto 6's Upcoming Release

Celebrating One of the Biggest Releases of 2025

Next year, GTA is going to be front and center. It's been 11 years since GTA 5 first launched, so the anticipation for GTA 6 is palpable. After such a long wait, GTA 6 finally has a release window set in place for Fall 2025, and Fortnite would be smart to jump on the bandwagon. Just because GTA is being mentioned in Epic Games surveys now doesn't mean a crossover is being planned to launch soon. Epic Games could simply be laying the early groundwork for a much bigger collaboration leading up to the official release of GTA 6.

The mention of Vice City in June's Epic Games survey could further point toward a GTA 6 collaboration, as this location is set to feature in the game.

The closer GTA 6's release date gets to becoming a reality, more excitement will be sure to follow. Rockstar is in line to have one of the biggest games of 2025, and with Fortnite's massive popularity, it only makes sense for Epic Games to vie for some of that attention as well. Fortnite has a long and diverse history with crossovers, making a GTA feature seem inevitable at this point. There is a case to be made that GTA is too mature for the general Fortnite aesthetic, but the recent crossover to promote the R-rated Deadpool & Wolverine proves that it's not outside the realm of possibility.
