A third of the new Fortnite map is just snow and ice; it's a frigid biome. It's much more deserted than grassy areas since there are no trees and all the bodies of water have frozen over. However, the white snow gives players the ability to do something that they wouldn't be able to do otherwise: make snowballs.

Gamers that haven't tried to make snowballs will have to now since they're part of this week's Fortnite Winterfest quests. To complete the quest players will have to deal a total of 250 damage to opponents within ten seconds of popping out of a giant snowball.

How To Make Giant Snowballs

Giant snowballs don't spawn on the map, players have to make their own. It's possible to make a snowball at any time as long as it's on the snowy areas of the map.

Players can make giant snowballs in Fortnite by hitting the snow with their harvesting tool. A snowball will start to form right away, but the player must hit the same spot on the ground at least four times for the snowball to be big enough to roll - otherwise, it will simply disappear back into the snow.

How To Pop Out Of A Giant Snowball

snowball options, hiding and exiting

Players can enter a giant snowball by approaching it and pressing the Hide button. It's pretty impossible to do anything inside the snowball besides switching between weapons. Players won't be able to move, build, or damage other players. To exit a giant snowball simply press the exit button once after hiding inside.

It's useful to take unexpecting opponents by surprise and that's exactly how it should be used to complete the quest. Brutal Bastion is the best POI to deal damage to players right after popping out of a giant snowball since it's the most active named location in the snowy part of the map. It'll be even more active if it turns out to be a Hot Spot during that match.

Even for those that have already completed the Winterfest quest, this is still a great mechanic to take advantage of during gameplay. It can be useful in situations in which the player isn't ready to take on another opponent, so it's always good to know how to use it properly.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
