Gold has been the primary currency in Fortnite Battle Royale for years now. In the first chapter of the game, players would use materials, such as wood, brick, and metal, to purchase valuable items from vending machines. However, they now use gold to acquire weapons and items from Black Markets, vending machines, and NPCs.
Fortnite: All Boons & How To Get Them
Boons offer useful passive benefits for those who manage to acquire them. Here is a guide on every Boon in Fortnite, along with how to get them.
Epic Games introduced players to an unexpected currency in Chapter 6 Season 2: Dill Bits. This unique resource can be hard to obtain, but it's 100 percent worth it, as it can provide a great advantage. This guide will tell players what they need to know about Dill Bits, including where to find this currency and where to spend it.
Updated on April 9, 2025, by Ashely Claudino: Epic Games added another way for players to get Dill Bits in Fortnite. Black Markets featured various Mythic weapons that could only be purchased with Dill Bits, but there weren't enough on the island to give players the chance to buy more than a couple of these items. Additionally, there were such limited locations to get Dill Bits and they were so risky to break into that only a very small percentage of players could get their hands on them. This is why Epic Games decided it was time to make players' lives easier and give players an easier method to find them. This guide has been updated and now contains information on the new way to get Dill Bits in Fortnite.
How to Get Dill Bits in Fortnite
To collect Dill Bits in Fortnite, gamers will have to search inside vaults or destroy Dill Bit Mining Servers.
Vaults
These vaults can be found at Crime City, Seaport City, Masked Meadows, and Lonewolf Lair. Additionally, the train that consistently rides around the map also has a vault that holds two Dill Bits inside.
Even though the Armored Truck has a vault door that must be broken down in order to acquire its loot, it does not store Dill Bits inside.
Players must acquire Thermite, which is a common spawn as floor loot and inside chests, and place it on the vault door. Doing so will weaken it over time, and gamers can even speed up the process by hitting or shooting the vault door's weak spot.
A meter on the upper part of the screen will let players know how close they are to opening the vault door. Once it has been filled, it will open, and they can get inside and collect the loot, including the Dill Bits.
Outlaw Midas
The Outlaw Midas NPC, located in the Backrooms of the Rogue Repairs Black Market, sells a single Dill Bit for 1,700 gold bars.
Dill Bit Mining Servers
Dill Bit Mining Servers are a more recent addition to Fortnite, and they make obtaining Dill Bits a much easier task. There are three Dill Bit Mining Servers in Fortnite; they are all located on the gold-riddled biome on the western side of the map. Here's exactly where to find them:
- Mine entrance 11, located on the western part of the tall, green mountain, southwest of Predator Peak
- Mine entrances 6 and 7, south of Outlaw Oasis and east of Yokina Boardwalk
- Mine entrance 9, west of Foxy Floodgate and east of Crime City
To get Dill Bits from a mining server room in Fortnite, players must hit it with their pickaxe and destroy it to see if a Dill Bit pops out. If not, they must continue to break the remaining services in the room. Gamers should be able to farm 2 Dill Bits from each mining server room.
How to Use Dill Bits in Fortnite
What Are Dill Bits For?
Unlike Gold, players can't accumulate Dill Bits over the season. Once a Fortnite match ends, the player's Dill Bit count will reset, and they will start the next match with zero Dill Bits. Therefore, gamers should always spend their Dill Bits after collecting them.
To spend Dill Bits in Fortnite, gamers must visit the Black Markets. There are three Black Markets in Fortnite, and each one has a different array of weapons and items for gamers to choose from. Some items can only be purchased with gold, and then there is a smaller selection that can only be exclusively obtained with Dill Bits. Here are items that gamers can purchase with Dill Bits at each Black Market:
|
Black Market Location |
Magic Mosses |
Crime City |
Masked Meadows/Seaport City |

Regardless of its rarity and type, each item costs 1 Dill Bit.
