Fortnite is approaching its final few weeks of Chapter 5, and with it marks the beginning of an annual celebration. As of the v31.20 hotfix, players can now eat slices of Birthday Cake and get a hold of Birthday Medallions, zipping through the battlefield with style to celebrate Fortnite Battle Royale's seven-year run.
Fortnite: 7th Birthday Quests & Rewards
Celebrate Fortnite Battle Royale's birthday by completing these themed quests and unlocking exclusive rewards.
Fortnite is celebrating its seventh birthday, and with it comes a variety of different items that players can acquire. While players may be on the lookout for Birthday Presents along with the vaulted Balloons, Firework Flare Guns also arrive, offering players an alternative means to reveal players, aside from acquiring Emma Frost's Reveal Medallion or hiring the Artemis NPC. Here is how to get a Firework Flare Gun in Fortnite.
How to Get a Firework Flare Gun in Fortnite
The Firework Flare Gun is an item of Rare rarity and can almost exclusively be found within Chests and Supply Drops in Fortnite. Firework Flare Guns also have a chance of spawning as ground loot, though finding them this way seems to be much rarer than simply opening up Chests.
How to Use a Firework Flare Gun in Fortnite
The Firework Flare Gun is a utility item in Fortnite that allows players to reveal nearby enemies. To use it, players can press the Shoot (Left Click/RT/R2) button to fire a flare. Once it explodes, the flare releases a pulse that live-pings nearby opponents, similar to the effect of Emma Frost’s Reveal Medallion. Using the Firework Flare Gun to reveal enemies also adds progress to the "Reveal Players by Setting off a Firework with a Flare Gun" Birthday Quest, rewarding players with 20,000 XP upon completion.
Additionally, the Firework Flare Gun can be used as a weapon, dealing 60 damage if a direct hit is made. Unlike previous iterations of the Flare Gun, this version does not set structures on fire, meaning that players can only deal meaningful damage by firing it directly at opponents. However, it does only hold six rounds, and ammunition cannot be resupplied for it, so players should make each shot count.
The Firework Flare Gun, along with the Birthday Presents, Birthday Medallions, and Balloons, will be available for both regular Battle Royale and Zero Build playlists until October 1 — providing players with only a limited time to grab each item and try it out for themselves.
