At first, Fortnite Battle Royale was a simpler game, and what made it stand out was its unique building mechanic. However, as time went on, more and more mechanics became part of it, and its become quite complex now. Players are introduced to new gameplay elements each season, and when Chapter 5 Season 3 came along so did Nitro, its main mechanic.
Fortnite: How to Get Nuka-Cola
Fortnite x Fallout sees an iconic staple of the Wasteland come into the Battle Royale map, as Nuka-Cola provides a refreshing healing beverage.
This guide will tell players everything they need to know about the Nitro effect in Fortnite so they can master it and make the most of it in order to come out on top and get a Victory Royale.
Nitro Effects in Fortnite
There is no doubt that Chapter 5 Season 3, also known as Fortnite Wrecked, is one of the most hectic seasons to date, and the Nitro effect mechanic contributes to that a fair bit.
Gamers might've noticed their stamina bar turn firey red at some point during this season - that means they've become infused by Nitro. At first, it may seem that it simply allows players to sprint for longer, but there's much more to it. Nitro can infuse both players and vehicles in Fortnite, granting them powerful boosts. Here are its effects:

How to Become Infused with Nitro
There are several ways to gain access to the Nitro effect in Fortnite - here's how:
Flaming Boost Hoops
There are Flaming Boost Hoops all over the Battle Royale island. Players can walk through them on foot or drive through them in a vehicle. Either way, once they're on the other side, whatever went through the hoop will be infused with Nitro.
Nitro Splash & Barrels
Nitro can be found inside bottles and barrels in Fortnite. Nitro Splash is a consumable as well as a throwable item, which means that if players find this item they can carry it and then use it at a later time. Players will find Nitro Splash in Fortnite as floor loot, inside chests, and in rare ammo boxes.
Additionally, Nitro is also stored inside Nitro Barrels, which can be found as part of the environment, and they're all over the map, just like Slurp Cacti; to take advantage of Nitro Barrels, the player has to destroy it, either by hitting it with their melee weapon or ramming it with their vehicle.
Megalo Don's Medallion
Once players defeat Megalo Don in Fortnite, they'll receive his Mythic weapons as well as his unique Medallion, which is one of a kind. Megalo Don's Medallion infuses its holder with Nitro at all times.
Wasteland Warrior Vehicles
There are three bosses in Chapter 5 Season 3: the Machinist, Ringmaster Scarr, and Megalo Don. After taking down a boss, gamers will get access to their vehicle - these three unique vehicle are charged with unlimited Nitro.
