Summary

  • The rumored LEGO x Fortnite crossover could be even bigger than expected, potentially taking over the game like a new season.
  • Reliable Fortnite leakers have corroborated the rumors and expect the LEGO update to be released in December.
  • It's unusual for a xx.00 update to not be a new season, so it's strange that Epic Games wouldn't label the LEGO collaboration as such. Players will have to wait to see how it unfolds.

A rumor is circulating that the upcoming LEGO x Fortnite crossover could be bigger than players expect when it launches. A LEGO x Fortnite announcement was made by the Danish toy manufacturer and Epic Games back in June 2023 after months of rumors and leaks.

The companies didn’t go into detail about what this team-up would contain, but both companies confirmed that one of the possibilities was to utilize the Metaverse. This would see players scan in real-world LEGO creations, bringing them into Fortnite. This left some gamers comparing the approach taken by Activision with the Skylanders toys-to-life franchise.

Shiina, the famous Fortnite leaker who recently released information about the different stages of The Apparatus, has posted on Twitter that the upcoming v27.00 update may not be the anticipated Chapter 4 Season 5 update gamers expect. Instead, players could potentially see a vast LEGO event takeover of the battle royale shooter. According to the information, the event would include a vast amount of content but still be classified as a continuation of Season 4.

Shiina does name two sources for this particular rumor: two other reliable Fortnite leakers, Wenso and Andre. They corroborate the information and expect the LEGO x Fortnite update to be released in December after a live in-game event at the end of November. While Shiina is remaining non-committal about the timing of a potential LEGO crossover, they note that a xx.00 update has always been a new season of Fortnite, so it seems strange that Epic wouldn’t label the LEGO collaboration as such.

The news comes as Chapter 4 Season 3 of Fortnite is building to the finale. Players only have a few weeks remaining to collect all the items in the battle pass before they are lost. There is also the subject of mopping up the final story tasks, currently revolving around mysterious changes happening to The Apparatus landmark, which will also be closed to players once the new season starts at the end of August.

Players will have to wait a little while to see when and if the LEGO crossover will replace Chapter 4 Season 5 of the battle royale. As gamers head into a new season on August 25, there is still a number of unknown questions about how Chapter 4 Season 4 will play out, however, some players have been receiving a blood moon poster in the mail, hinting that the next season of Fortnite will have a darker tone.

Fortnite is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
