Fortnite has brought back a classic Marvel cosmetic to the game after nearly five years, re-adding Black Widow's exclusive pickaxe to the in-game store. The beloved battle royale from Epic Games has featured a wide variety of crossovers and collaborations throughout its life, each bringing unique cosmetics from other games, TV shows, movies, and more. Everything from Star Wars and Indiana Jones to Dragon Ball Z and Jujutsu Kaisen have received their own Fortnite skins and items. However, one comic book juggernaut has been particularly notable for its Fortnite collaborations.
Marvel has been one of the largest contributors to Fortnite's wealth of crossover content, featuring several of the comic book company's biggest characters. Beloved characters like Spider-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Dr. Strange have been among the characters to see skins added to the game. Fortnite has even regularly featured special game mechanics and events themed around Marvel heroes, adding new items like Spider-Man's web shooter. Now, a classic pickaxe from one of Fortnite's older Marvel crossovers is coming back to the game.
LEGO Fortnite Is Getting an Unexpected Marvel Skin
Fortnite looks set to add one of the most requested Marvel skins from a long-running franchise to its LEGO mode as part of its v29.10 Update.
A recent update to Fortnite's in-game shop has brought back a Black Widow-themed pickaxe for the first time in nearly five years. According to a post by prominent Fortnite account ShiinaBR, the "Widow's Bite" pickaxe had not been featured in the game's shop for "1791 days," totaling nearly five years since its last availability. The pickaxe was originally added in April 2019 as part of an Avengers crossover coinciding with the launch of Avengers: Endgame. The Black Widow pickaxe is available for players to purchase for 800 V-Bucks.
Fortnite Brings Back Rare Black Widow Pickaxe
The return of Black Widow's pickaxe follows the recent release of Fortnite's newest Marvel crossover. Fortnite debuted its new Guardians of the Galaxy crossover last week, adding skins to the game based on Drax, Young Adult Groot, and Mantis. Each of the new Marvel-themed skins comes with a variant that players can use within LEGO Fortnite as well. The bundle also grants players a pair of emotes based on different scenes from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, including one based on young Groot dancing in his pot.
Fortnite's newest Marvel crossover comes as the game recently debuted its newest competitive season earlier this month. Chapter 5 Season 2 brought a new update to Fortnite's in-game Battle Pass, introducing multiple skins based on mythological figures like Cerberus, Medusa, and Poseidon. The new season also saw several items and weapons added to give players an edge in the battle royale, like the Thunderbolt of Zeus and the Wings of Icarus. Fortnite's Chapter 5 Season 2 looks to provide plenty for fans with new skins, returning cosmetics, and plenty of gameplay changes.
