Some Fortnite gamers are calling for changes to Medallions that make the players holding them more visible on the map. Since it was released, there have been a few ways for Fortnite players to keep track of others on the map, but the Medallions may need a change based on fan feedback.
Among the things introduced to Fortnite in Chapter 5 Season 1 were weapon customization benches, revamped movement, and Medallions. These Medallions can be acquired from NPCs at select points of interest, and they provide players with a regenerative shield, but there's a key drawback. When carrying a Medallion, players can be tracked on the map and the mini-map as a yellow circle if they're close enough to others. Throughout Chapter 5 Season 1, the Medallions provided less shield regeneration, but their visibility wasn't adjusted. Now that Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 has commenced, much of the community is calling for improvements to the Medallion indicator circles.
Reddit user ExitNo7778 is among the Fortnite players voicing their disappointment with the Medallions. The Fortnite Medallions were carried over from Chapter 5 Season 1, and they can be acquired by new NPCs themed around the Greek gods in the Battle Pass. While these Medallions offer unique improvements, gamers can still be tracked once they're equipped. However, the yellow circle indicators are significantly more faded than the ones related to Bounty targets, and in certain landscapes, they're barely visible to some players. The image shared by ExitNo7778 highlights how hard the Medallion circles are to see on the map, with visibility being even more of an issue on the minimap.
What Does the Fortnite Medallion Indicator Look Like?
The outline of the Medallion circles is the easiest thing for players to go by, but it can only be seen when opening the map, or when the Medallions are approaching them. While many fans are calling for the circles to be more visible like with Fortnite Bounty targets, others pointed out that they were better last season, but were changed because the minimap would flood with yellow in the final moments of the game. Because players can be tracked when carrying the Medallions, some gamers feel the drawbacks outweigh the benefits. The Zeus Medallion provides a speed boost, the Ares one increases damage dealing, the Cerberus one offers a dash movement ability, and the Hades one can siphon health from eliminated opponents.
As the Medallions are still a key item in Chapter 5 Season 2, it may be something that's carried forward until the conclusion of the Chapter. Given that Epic Games continues to update Fortnite, players with Medallions may be easier to keep track of in the future.
