Fortnite brought back the original Chapter 1 Season 1 map at the start of December 2024, so players could finally relive the early days of the Battle Royale that they came to know and love. Some of the recent improvements were kept, such as some parkour moves and shield consumption changes, but overall this is as close to the real thing as players can get.

The return of certain OG mechanics is what got many fans particularly excited, namely rocket riding and double pumping. Whether gamers have forgotten how it works, want to know more about its stats, or aren't familiar with the Double Pump mechanic at all, this guide will explain what they need to know.

It is unknown how long Double Pump will be available in Fortnite OG, but it is likely that it will stick around until the season that coincides with its previous vault: Chapter 1 Season 5.

How to Double Pump in Fortnite

To Double Pump in Fortnite OG, players will first need to get themselves two Pump Shotguns. Pump Shotguns can be found as floor loot and inside chest containers, and they are available in Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 1 in Common and Uncommon-rarities. Overall, they're a pretty common shotgun in this game mode so gamers shouldn't have much trouble finding two of them.

Once two Pump Shotguns have been acquired, players must equip them and ensure that they can quickly switch from one to the other within. To perform the Double Pump strategy, gamers must shoot one of the Pump Shotguns at an opponent and then immediately switch to the other Pump Shotgun and fire another shot.

Console players can easily do this by slotting the shotguns next to each other or enabling the Quick Weapon action setting.

How Much Damage Can You Do With Double Pump?

Double Pump Max Damage

The Pump Shotgun has a 2.5x headshot multiplier. Therefore, if players are able to headshot their opponent, they will deal more than double the shotgun's base damage. The Pump Shotgun is already pretty deadly as it is, but combined with the Double Pump mechanic, its power is unmatched.

The Common Pump Shotgun can inflict a maximum of 90 damage and its Uncommon variant can deal up to 95. If the player hits a headshot, these numbers go up to 225 and 237.5 respectively with a single headshot.

This is enough to take down a fully shielded opponent in Battle Royale, but not in Zero Build. However, if players Double Pump, they can deal up to 475 damage, which would obliterate any enemy in the game regardless of their health, shields, and overshield.
