In Chapter 1, a purple cube, dubbed Kevin by Fortnite fans, wandered around the map, leaving various runes on the ground. These runes corrupted the land that surrounded them and spawned Shadow Stones. Players who consumed the stones would temporarily turn into shadow form, which allowed them to walk around quietly and swiftly.

Havoc Stone Effects
What Do Havoc Stones Do in Fortnite?
Players can consume Havoc Stones in Fortnite, and they will have to in order to complete Fortnitemares Quests. The Havoc Stone effect lasts a total of 30 seconds. It increases the player's sprinting speed, grants them infinite stamina, and deals bash damage to structures. This means that if players are sprinting and they hit a wall, they deal 100 damage to it.
To finish the Havoc Stones Fortnitemares Quest, players have to travel a total of 250 meters while the Havoc Stone effect is active. The Havoc Stone lasts enough time to make it possible for players to complete the quest simply by sprinting in any direction after consuming one stone. However, if they want to get it done even faster, they should walk into the bright air geysers near the ends of the corrupted ground, as it'll send them flying up into the air, quickly increasing the number of meters they traveled.
