Summary

  • Fortnite has featured many crossovers with franchises, including anime, and may include One Punch Man in the future.
  • The addition of an interactive Darth Vader NPC in Fortnite could potentially hint at a One Punch Man crossover.
  • A leaked prompt from Darth Vader's files describes a character resembling Saitama, sparking speculation about the crossover.

If proven true, a new leak could indicate that the hit hero anime One Punch Man could be coming in a future Fortnite crossover. Over the years, Fortnite has hosted numerous crossovers with popular franchises, including an increasing amount of anime.

Fortnite's latest crossover with the Star Wars franchise is proving to be even more detailed than many had anticipated. The ongoing Galactic Battle event added massive changes to the Fortnite map, turning the familiar Battle Royale island into something of a Star Wars theme park, giving familiar locations makeovers straight from one of the most popular multimedia franchises in the world. On top of that, the game received even more Star Wars cosmetic skin and gear options, including new characters and variations on ones that already existed. The latest gimmick also features an interactive Darth Vader NPC equipped with generative chatbot functionality and a synthetic voice that can react to and converse with players.

Fortnite Adds Darth Vader AI NPC

Fortnite introduces its first artificial intelligence-speaking NPC, making it possible for players to have full conversations with Darth Vader.

While the Darth Vader AI NPC has attracted interest (and controversy), players attempting to investigate its workings may have uncovered a clue from its files that suggest One Punch Man might be an upcoming crossover property. According to a post shared by Fortnite news account HypeX on Twitter, user @itsmeleaky claimed that Fortnite developer Epic Games may have left the description of an as-yet unreleased skin in files related to the AI Darth Vader NPC. The description is formatted like a generative AI chatbot prompt, and refers to an unnamed character whose appearance resembles that of Saitama, the protagonist of One Punch Man. The presence of the prompt in the AI Darth Vader NPC's files suggests that Vader is intended to be able to "react" to a player wearing the skin, using the prompt to deliver a response based on the skin's appearance, just like Vader might respond to a player using a Llamataun or Wind Sprite.

Fortnite Darth Vader AI NPC Files Potentially Leak One Punch Man Crossover

The description allegedly leaked from the Fortnite Darth Vader AI NPC's files does not specifically name any One Punch Man characters or items. Instead, the prompt reads "a character wearing a yellow and red suit with a black belt. He has a bald head and no facial features." While there are many characters in the world that could wear a suit with those colors, the clue is the reference to a "bald head" and "no facial features." In the story of One Punch Man, Saitama went bald because of the training that made him so strong he could defeat any threat in a single punch. He's also rendered with a very simplistic character design, an intentional contrast to the much more detailed and impressive heroes and villains he encounters.

While Epic Games hasn't confirmed a potential One Punch Man crossover with Fortnite, the presence of a prompt related to its most prominent character certainly raises the possibility of one in the future. If true, fans could look forward to another popular Fortnite anime crossover.
