Summary

  • Swole Peter Griffin is a newly added skin in Fortnite with a special death animation referencing a popular Family Guy gag.
  • The Peter Griffin skin in Fortnite holds his knee and reenacts the "hurt knee" meme from the TV show when he dies.
  • Chapter 5, Season 1 of Fortnite introduces new drop points, weapons, and major collaborations, including Solid Snake from Metal Gear.

The newly added swole Peter Griffin skin in Fortnite also appears as a boss character that when taken down, features a special death animation referencing a popular running gag from the TV show Family Guy. Following the positive reception of Fortnite OG and special live event featuring Eminem, Epic Games pushed the game back into the modern era by launching Chapter 5, Season 1. Known as Underground, this new season introduces new drop points like Reckless Railways, a train that can be controlled, new weapons, and much more.

Naturally, a new Chapter and Season also means new skins and Underground continues that trend with a pair of major collaborations. The Fortnite Gaming Legends Series is expanding to include one of the icons of Konami's Metal Gear series, with Solid Snake being added to the Big Bang Battle Pass in the near future. The other addition now available is Peter Griffin from the popular TV series, Family Guy. However, this version of Peter is surprisingly muscular, with the community referring to it as Swole Peter, though the new look isn't the only unique element to the cosmetic skin.

Fortnite Reveals Over 1,200 LEGO Versions of Existing Skins

Fortnite reveals that most of its skins will receive LEGO-style makeovers which can be used in the new LEGO Fortnite mode, releasing on December 7.

As Fortnite players begin playing with and against the Peter Griffin skin have noticed it doesn't have a traditional death animation. When fighting a golden boss version of Peter, he falls to the ground and holds his knee as if he's in pain once players manage to take his life down to zero. Fans of the TV series will likely know that this animation is clearly referencing the popular meme and running gag that takes place on the show whenever Peter seemingly trips and falls.

The gag started all the way back in the second season of Family Guy, which took place all the way back in 1999. In episode 20, known as Wasted Talent, Peter is excitedly running home after finding the final "Silver Scroll" in a bottle of Pawtucket Patriot Ale, a parody of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. As he reaches his house, he seemingly stumbles and falls, scraping his knee and holding it while repeatedly wincing and saying a pained "Ah!" The gag would go on to be used a handful of additional times throughout the show's future seasons and is now immortalized within Fortnite.

In addition to Metal Gear and Family Guy, fans of the Battle Royale have seemingly uncovered another potential collaboration on the horizon. During a scene in the Fortnite Chapter 5 trailer, Solid Snake pops out of a box in reference to his iconic ability in the Metal Gear Solid series. In the background, there appears to be graffiti on the wall, with the TMNT character Leonardo painted onto the wall. Many have taken this to be a clue that the Turtles are the next franchise to join Fortnite, though for now, players should take it with a grain of salt until officially announced.
