Epic Games has acknowledged issues keeping certain Fortnite players from completing the game's new Pirates of the Caribbean event, announcing a minor change to the new pass. Fortnite' s special, limited-time crossover with Disney's swashbuckling Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been incredibly popular and allows players to unlock several pirate-themed items, though a bug has halted progress for some Fortnite players.

Fortnite continues to dominate both the free-to-play and battle royale scenes, thanks in large part to its long list of collaborations and crossovers. Over the last several years, a number of popular characters and franchises have made their debut in Fortnite's colorful cartoon world, with some of the most popular collaborations including Marvel, DC, and Star Wars. Fortnite recently added new Deadpool and Wolverine skins to celebrate the new MCU film. In July 2024, Epic Games introduces players to the Cursed Sails pass, a paid pass that tracks progress alongside the regular seasonal battle pass. This new pass features a wide assortment of exciting pirate goodness, but some players are having trouble completing it, with Epic Games tackling the issue head-on in a new update.

Fortnite's new Cursed Sails pass comes in both a free and premium version, with players tasked with embarking on various Pirate Code quests to complete the pass. Players who collect eight different map pieces will receive Jack's Ship as a glider. However, some players are facing issues with the "Defeat a Dueling character with a pistol or melee weapon" quest. As a result, Epic Games has deployed a fix, swapping this quest with a new one. This new quest simply asks players to collect gifts from characters.

Fortnite's Pirates of the Caribbean Event Faces Issues

A separate issue is also affecting players trying to progress through Fortnite's Cursed Sails pass, locking them out of the free glider. "We're also aware some players' Pirate Code Bonus Goals are not being tracked as intended," says Epic Games. The studio states that as long as all eight map pieces have been collected, Jack's Ship glider will appear in players' lockers. A total of 22 rewards are available in the Cursed Sails pass, 11 for free and 11 for the premium version. The premium Cursed Sails pass costs 1,000 V-Bucks or $8.99 USD.

Fortnite is nearing the tail end of its exciting Chapter 5 Season 3 update. Officially titled Wrecked, Fortnite's current season launched players into an epic wasteland world, this time placing a big emphasis on vehicle combat. A number of vehicle upgrades are available in Fortnite Wrecked, allowing players to customize and weaponize their car of choice. Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 3 ends on August 16, with the next season set to launch soon after.
