Fortnite has rolled out a special set of quest challenges this week in addition to the usual weekly challenges. One of these special quests requires players to place coins in various locations around the island, and this guide shows players exactly where.
The new quest comes as part of Fortnite's Free Guy crossover event. The 2021 film stars Ryan Reynolds as Guy, a bank teller who realizes he is an NPC in a game called Free City, which is in danger of going permanently offline. Epic Games added Free Guy quests and a Ryan Reynolds skin as well, but probably not in the form most people would expect.
How to Place Coins Around the Map in Fortnite
This particular Fortnite quest is the least straightforward of the bunch, with the challenge spanning many potential locations. Players will need to place a total of three coins at one of the ten valid spots around the island, so the difficulty comes in knowing exactly where to look. The majority of the locations are in the northern half of the island, so its advisable to start there. There's one in Craggy Cliffs and Dirty Docks, and two each in Pleasant Park and Believer Beach. The remaining four coin locations are in Holly Hatchery and Lazy Lake, both towards the northwest, and Retail Row and Misty Meadows, both toward the southeast.
Fortnite players will know they've found a coin-placing spot once they see a glowing blue coin icon. Those looking to complete this quest quickly can try pairing any of the dual coin areas with the next closest coin location, like Believer Beach to Holly Hatchery, or Craggy Cliffs to Pleasant Park for example. Using these locations can also fulfill one of Fortnite's regular quests. One of this week's challenges requires players to visit the Guardian Towers around the map, two of which are in between the aforementioned locations, enabling players to take a diagonal beeline to help quickly complete multiple challenges.
Players who complete the Free Guy quest won't be rewarded with the usual chunk of XP, but 200 Gold Bars. The rest of the quests include getting hit by a moving vehicle, taking melee damage, talking to an NPC and revive a teammate or use a campfire. After the quests have all been completed, the Good Guy Emote will unlock as a reward, which features an actual audio clip of Ryan Reynolds talking.
While fans are accustomed to quest and cosmetic crossovers like the ones with Free Guy, Fortnite may be preparing to cross genres. Evidence of an open world RPG mode is steadily mounting, which may have the capacity to revolutionize the free-to-play game all over again.
Fortnite is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
