Following the DC collabs from the Super season, Fortnite is confirmed to be adding Power Rangers skins to the game in Chapter 6 Season 4. With the theme of Shock ‘N Awesome, players can expect this season of Fortnite to provide them with all-new firepower, as well as nostalgic Battle Pass skins.

As enjoyable as each of the Chapter 6 seasons has been so far, there is one aspect of most of the seasons that has held them back from being truly great. Now that the Power Rangers Fortnite collab is official, this crossover could hold the solution to this problem.

Fortnite Chapter 6 Has an Issue With Its Bosses

Superman and Godzilla Have Interesting Abilities

Fortnite’s Demon Hunters season started Chapter 6 off with a bang, with an all-new map to explore and demons to fight. When the gameplay trailer for Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 first dropped, it was teased that Godzilla would roam around the map, towering over players in Battle Royale. It was later revealed, though, that players would get the chance to play as this boss for themselves, encouraging players to team up against the kaiju before it wiped out whoever was remaining in the lobby.

Season 3 followed this up with the Kryptonian Form mythic, giving players the appearance and abilities of Superman in Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode. Using the Man of Steel’s Heat Vision and Super Punch, players can easily eliminate multiple opponents at once with very little effort required. Players are restricted for how long they can maintain this form, however, so they should make as much use of the mythic as they can before they return to their normal character skin.

Bosses Are Restricted to One Player per Match

In concept, the idea of letting players control these characters is interesting. Being able to use powers unique to Godzilla and Superman in Fortnite is very rewarding for the player who can acquire it. However, the issue is that only one player is able to secure these abilities in a match, and they were not guaranteed in all matches. This meant that some players would not get the chance to play as these characters at all before they were removed from the game at the end of each season.

This becomes more of a problem when certain quests require players to use the abilities of these characters. Fortnite’s Superman Training Montage and Call to Action quests did alleviate this issue somewhat by including alternatives for players to use other Supernova Gear to complete the quests, but whoever could get the mythic first could complete multiple quests at once, making this more rewarding. Players still may not have had the opportunity to use the character by the end of the season, but Shock ‘N Awesome may have the perfect fix with the Power Rangers crossover.

Dino Megazord Could Be Used by Multiple Players

Continuing with the trend of previous seasons, it’s very likely that Fortnite’s Megazord will be a playable boss, much like Godzilla and Superman. The Dino Megazord has been seen in both Chapter 6 Season 4 trailers fighting off the bug invasion, so it’s possible that players who become the Megazord will be able to use the Power Sword against enemy bugs as well as opponent players.

Much like Godzilla and Superman, the Dino Megazord will be the unlockable Bonus Outfit available to players with access to the Chapter 6 Season 4 Battle Pass.

What makes the Dino Megazord in Power Rangers interesting is that it is formed by all five of the Power Rangers combining their Zords and controlling the mecha together. If the Megazord does become a boss players can control in Fortnite, it makes sense that it should be controlled by five players at once. This would be a great way to remain accurate to the source material while also giving more players in the lobby the chance to control it.

Being able to take control of the Megazord could be handled in a unique way, too. Instead of entering a rift or picking up an item like players needed to for Godzilla and Superman, players could find the Power Rangers Zords around the map, requiring them to meet together to form the Dino Megazord. This gives players the chance to cooperate – which is rarely required in Battle Royale – and ensures that the final transformation is available to use by multiple players per match.

fortnite chapter 6 season 4 boss could be a hit of nostalgia

This isn’t the first time that players have been able to control a mecha like this in the game. Fortnite’s Collision Event from Chapter 3 Season 2 gave four players control of the Mecha Strike Commander. This event gave each player control over the mecha’s weapons, allowing them to destroy sections of the map and fight with The Seven against the Imagined Order. The Dino Megazord boss in Chapter 6 Season 4 could use a similar approach to this, giving each player access to the mecha’s different functions and encouraging them to work together.

Another approach could be to take inspiration from Chapter 6’s Star Wars mini season, which let Fortnite players control an Imperial Star Destroyer for a short amount of time. Once players entered the rift, their whole squad is transported into the Star Destroyer and given control of the cannons to damage and eliminate nearby players. If the Megazord functions similarly, it should still allow multiple players to use it at once when in the Solo queue.

The upcoming Power Rangers collab is a nostalgic crossover for some Fortnite players. Some players may even have the opportunity to unlock Fortnite’s Red Ranger and Pink Ranger skins early, but will have to wait until all the Power Rangers content is available in-game. The Dino Megazord has the potential to follow in the footsteps of boss events like Godzilla and Superman and exceed them, but it should be careful to circumvent the issues of these past events.
