- Sony announces a Fortnite-themed PS5 controller.
- Controller release date - November 7, 2024.

During the September State of Play event, Sony announced an all-new PlayStation 5 DualSense controller themed around Fortnite that will be available worldwide starting November 7, 2024. This is not the first time that Epic Games and Sony have collaborated, as fans have witnessed several first-party PlayStation game characters such as the likes of Aloy and Kratos making their way into Fortnite in the past.
Fortnite is synonymous with collaborations at this point, with the developers surprising its fanbase now and then with exciting partnerships. However, the most awaited collaboration in Fortnite by far has been with Sony, as several fans have been waiting for the return of Kratos in Fortnite for months now. Many speculated that it would be released when God of War: Ragnarok arrived on PC, but even that didn't materialize. A part of the wishes has finally come true, with PlayStation announcing a new collaboration with Fortnite.
During the much anticipated September State of Play event, Sony caught many by surprise with an all-new controller announcement. Sony is collaborating with Epic Games to bring a Fortnite-themed PlayStation 5 DualSense controller to fans all across the globe. The DualSense controller has a blue color base with plenty of Fortnite-themed doodle art all across. On the right side of the controller is Peely, while the left side features none other than Fishstick.

- Pre-Order Date - October 3, 2024, 10 am Eastern Time
Fortnite fans who are looking to get the controller will need to wait a bit as it will be available worldwide starting November 7, 2024. Players also have the chance to pre-order the DualSense controller starting October 3, 2024. The controller will be available for $84.99, and considering that it is a limited edition DualSense controller it is probably a good idea to pre-order it beforehand. Pre-orders begin on the PlayStation Direct store at 10 am Eastern Time in the U.S. On October 3, 2024, and at 10 am local time in the U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal. It is noted that the availability in other regions might vary.
While the Fortnite-themed controller is a great addition, fans were quite disappointed with the State of Play event until the very last moments. The community wasn't happy with the lack of big announcements, but Sony lessened the blow to quite an extent with the Ghost of Tsushima 2 announcement at the very end. On the flip side, Fortnite fans are happy to see another collaboration with PlayStation, with many hoping that this would pave the way for the return of some fan-favorite characters.
