Epic Games has just confirmed that two new weapons are heading to Fortnite's ongoing Simpsons mini-season, but fans will need to act fast, as they're only available this weekend. Kicking off on November 1, this Fortnite x Simpsons crossover event is set to last the rest of the month, and a few content drops are expected during the course of the mini-season.
Right out of the gate, the Fortnite Simpsons mini-season brought an entirely new map to the battle royale. Along with trading Fortnite's usual art style for a more cartoon-y, cel-shaded aesthetic, this new map is densely packed with POIs that are all lifted directly from the 36-year-old animated franchise. While this Fortnite mini-season's meta is dominated by classic Fortnite weaponry like the Tactical Shotgun and Infantry Rifle, there are one or two Simpsons-themed weapons that have also proven to be popular this last week.
Fortnite Simpsons Crossover Gets Two New Weapons This Weekend
On November 7, the Fortnite Status X account announced that two new Simpsons-themed weapons would be coming to Fortnite's Battle Royale mode. The first of these new weapons is the Deodorant Applicator, a fast-firing ray gun that has unlimited ammo but overheats after prolonged use. Firing the Deodorant Applicator emits a yellow ray that exposes an opponent's skeleton upon contact, just like an X-ray. The second special Simpsons item heading to Fortnite is Bart's Cobalt Slingshot, a weapon that launches a green fuel rod that explodes upon impact, damaging any enemy caught in the blast zone.
Both Fortnite's Deodorant Applicator and Cobalt Slingshot will only be available in the battle royale mode this weekend, with both set to be removed from the loot pool after Sunday, November 9. While this will be the first time these weapons have come to battle royale, they were previously available in Fortnite's Delulu mode, a weekend-only mode that enables proximity chat and encourages squads to team up and eventually betray one another.
Along with these two new weapons, Fortnite's Simpsons mini-season is getting a few tweaks this weekend. One of which is that the number of Krusty Burgers players can hold at one time has now been capped at three. Epic Games also used this post to share some fun statistics accrued over the last week, such as 33,481 players have been eliminated by Ned Flanders, 459 million Blinky Fish, Krusty Burgers, and Super Squishees have been consumed, and 24 million eliminations have taken place at Kamp Krusty.
Though Epic Games hasn't confirmed anything just yet, more Simpsons-themed weapons have been leaked to appear later in the season. Fortnite's November 11 v38.10 update will reportedly add a 'Makeup Shotgun' inspired by The Simpsons' Season 10 episode 'The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace,' as well as a Mythic inspired by Moe's five-gun contraption from Season 9's 'The Cartridge Family' episode.
