Fortnite has increased the damage inflicted by the Storm and the speed of the Storm Circle in the Battle Royale game mode. Battle Royale is Fortnite's classic game mode. In it, players will face up to 99 enemy players on an island and fight for the Victory Royale, all while being slowly pushed together by a lethal Storm that closes in a circle. As the Storm Circle closes, players will be confined to an increasingly smaller area, inevitably forcing all opponents to meet.
There can be up to 12 Storm Circle phases in a Fortnite match, but it usually doesn't happen, as players tend to eliminate each other before the final Storm Circle. As the match moves onto the next Storm Circle, its area decreases and the damage that the storm inflicts increases. However, many would agree that the first couple of Storms pose little to no threat, as they barely cover any area and deal minimal damage that can easily be recovered with one of Fortnite's healing items.

Fortnite Makes Major Changes to the Storm in Battle Royale
Fortnite has tweaked some aspects of the Storm and increased both its damage and speed. Leakers have dug into the game files and have been able to reveal the actual stat changes. Wait time for the next Storm Circle is now shorter (14 to 22 percent, depending on the Storm phase), shrink time has also decreased – meaning the Storm will come faster now – and it will drain twice as much health compared to before.
These changes did not go live in Ranked Battle Royale and tournaments. It seems that the modifications are connected to the Fortnite Community Quests. The changes came alongside the Power Rangers Lord Zedd skin announcement, which revealed that he had cursed the island. In its announcement, Epic Games used a lot of lightning and storm emojis, making it clear that the two were connected.
The final phase of the Community Quests has begun, and fans need to come together to complete it and summon Megazord. It is likely that Megazord will unleash its force on Lord Zedd and attempt to defeat him and restore the island and the storm back to what they were before. While unfortunate, as gamers had asked for a more menacing storm before, these changes will probably only be live for a few days. However, if Epic Games sees that feedback from fans is positive, it could consider keeping them around for longer.
