Epic Games will soon allow players to purchase the exact amount of V-Bucks needed for Item Shop purchases in Fortnite. The Fortnite Item Shop rotates eacch day at 8 PM ET, making new and returning cosmetics available for fans. This is one of the most exciting times of the day for Fortnite players, but it can be a bummer if they find themselves short on V-Bucks.
When players find a cosmetic in the shop but can't snag it for a couple of hundred V-Bucks, they will sometimes skip it until later on, as it doesn't justify buying a 1,000 V-Bucks card for $8.99. This is why, for years now, the community has been asking Epic Games to implement a feature that allows them to purchase the right quantity of V-Bucks needed for a desired cosmetic. This would be good for fans, who would be able to buy smaller amounts of V-Bucks on a whim. It would also be a positive for Epic Games, as players would be more likely to spend money on the game.
Epic Games Reveals Fortnite Wallet Cards
Epic Games announces a new way to obtain in-game currency, packs, passes, DLC, and more in Fortnite as well as the Epic Games Store.
Fortnite Adds Exact Amount Purchase Option to the Item Shop
Finally, Epic Games has announced that it will soon allow players to purchase the exact number of V-Bucks needed to make a purchase in Fortnite. This means that if players want to get a cosmetic or an item bundle but they don't have enough in-game currency, they can add just enough V-Bucks that to their account rather than having to purchase a card or pack with either too many or not enough V-Bucks. This feature is coming to Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys. For the latter, gamers will only be able to add currency in increments of 100, but for the former two, they can add currency in increments of 50.
As it appears, this offer will only be available when making a purchase in Fortnite. Players will most likely not be able to purchase exact amounts outside the Item Shop.
This change will be implemented on October 14, and it will be available for players on Xbox, Nintendo, PC, Android, and Apple devices, along with the web Item Shop. Unfortunately, it won't be available on PlayStation consoles for now, but Epic Games claims that it is working hard to bring it to every platform. If need be, PlayStation players can make purchases remotely through the Fortnite webshop while this feature is not available to them. Players have long found it strange that Epic Games has taken so long to consider this feature, as it will certainly make players much more likely to purchase in-game items.
Despite this change, Fortnite V-Bucks cards will not become obsolete, as packs will still save players money. If players purchase an exact number of V-Bucks, it will cost them about a dollar for every 100. Compared to the cheapest V-Bucks card ($8.99 for 1,000 V-Bucks), they will be paying 10 percent more for the exact amount of in-game currency. This number only increases when compared to the more expensive V-Bucks packs, which offer more bonus currency, thus giving players a higher discount.
